Based on nothing other than gut instinct and that Preston are virtually safe, I think we'll win this. They'll be a wave of relief only for us to lose miserably against Stoke though.

Why will we lose miserably home to Stoke? We should have beaten them away. Goalkeeper error gifted them a draw. I do think we need to beat Preston and we can.

Seen it all before. We'll win this one and build up hope then lose when in matters in a 6 pointer. We have relegation written all over us.

Fair point. I still think we have a chance but we do need 3 points Tuesday. I'll be there.

If we don’t finish this coming week outside of the relegation zone we don’t deserve to stay up. Table doesn’t lie

Preston will have to contend with the absence of midfielder Alistair McCann, but Heckingbottom could select Sam Greenwood, Benjamin Whiteman and Stefan Thordarson, who started as a trio against Stoke.

Defenders Jack Whatmough and Brad Potts are not available, while goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is set to miss out for the rest of the season.

Perhaps Jordan Storey, Liam Lindsay and Lewis Gibson could be stationed in a back three ahead of shot-stopper David Cornell.

Riza aims to extend unbeaten run and fend off in-form relegation rivals

Cardiff are now unbeaten in three games ( 1 Win / 2 Draws) and hope to extend that run at Preston North End on Tuesday.

“We are putting together a decent run at the right time, we are looking to extend this run at Preston”

"We've picked up five points from 9,we're unbeaten in three and we'll look to take that into Preston," said manager Omer Riza.

“We were unlikely at QPR and if we had won we would be out of the relegation area.”

Don’t forget Riza you’ve put us in the Bottom 3 and Kept us in the Bottom 5 All season due to Winning only 5 League games from 27 games.

Re: TEAM NEWS: " PRESTON NORTH END v CARDIFF CITY " MATCH TH

Tue Apr 08, 2025 6:37 am

This is the problem with Riza

Just a win and a draw somewhere.....anywhere .....in those long long pathetic spells he's been manager for ......would have us on 45 points

And basically a lot more relaxed with 6 games to go

But we have been so poor that even a win and 2 draws has made very little difference as others have picked up points

I think he's a decent enough guy and after the swansea win he had his chance to push on

But he's failed again since that great performance to get consistency and stability

So even if we do manage to stay up he and the whole coaching staff need to be replaced together with several players

Tue Apr 08, 2025 6:40 am

If we were in Pompeys position ...45 points ...I would be confident we would get over the line

In reality we have blown at least 6 points on top of that

Great chance to get out of the relegation zone.

Hard game for derby against Burnley.

Another must win for us.

We just need to be a bit smarter in front of goal. A lot of nervous long shots in the last game.

North End fan here. Came on here to wish you the best of luck and provide some insight to our season. We’ve only won 1 in 9, granted many of those have been bore draws. We haven’t lost at home since Bristol City beat us in November. We haven’t lost a league game at home midweek (Tuesday and Wednesday) since 2022. That is 24 consecutive games unbeaten midweek, mind blowing tbh!

We have only one 4 times this season when the opposition has also scored. When we concede first,, we have not won a game. If you can grab the first goal, you should be coming away with at least a point.

Fair play to any that travel, our tickets aren’t cheap and our football is awful. Deepdale was noticeably emptier this Saturday just gone, I think it’ll be our lowest crowd this season tonight. Definitely not in for a classic. Good luck.

Preston aren't safe. If we beat them, we go 4 points behind them.

They need 1 win, and will fancy getting it tonight.

Huge game.

Preston North End’s manager is Paul Heckingbottom, who was appointed in August last year.

The former defender enjoyed a lengthy playing career representing the likes of Norwich City, Sheffield Wednesday, Bradford City and Darlington amongst others.

He first stepped into coaching at Barnsley, working his way through the ranks to become First Team Manager in 2016. During his two-year stint with the Tykes, he achieved promotion to the Championship and won the Football League Trophy.

Heckingbottom’s success brought about a move to Leeds United where he served as manager before being replaced by Marcelo Bielsa in June 2018.

Subsequently making the move to Scottish side Hibernian, Heckingbottom guided the club to a fifth-place finish in the Scottish Premiership before departing the Hibees the following campaign. He would enjoy further success at his following club, securing promotion to the Premier League with Sheffield United in his second full season at the helm.

The Yorkshire-born manager joined Preston North End two matches into the current campaign, and has since recorded 15 wins, 18 draws and 12 losses, achieving a win percentage of 33.33%.

Sadly its where we are a lot hsve givrn up hope riza does not inspire his players let alone the fans
Maybe if like tan and bulut said top 2/6 we may have taken 3,000 but we are in the bottom 3 midweek no bloody hope from this excuse of a manager got to be the worse in the division with the team we have we should be higher but he cannot inspire his players to get out of the bottom 5 all season.

Thanks for that mate, usually that would be a positive playing against a team with one win in nine but with our manager teams turn it around against us . All the best mate :thumbright:
