Does anyone actually think we'll stay up?

Sun Apr 06, 2025 8:18 pm

I noticed that the bookies have finally put us in the top three favourites to get relegated - they get a lot right but for some reason they had us at long odds for relegation for a while now.

Does anyone on here actually believe we'll stay up? Assuming that Riza stays this is.

I know I don't and as everyone knows, I always try to be positive - even to the point of lunacy sometimes

I have no confidence in Riza to keep us up, the warning signs were there months ago that he can’t manage a squad. He’s going to have two relegations on his CV , is there a record for amount of games in charge with two relegations?

Yes - If we beat Oxford and Stoke - Or get another 8 points or more from somewhere .

This season is really testing my optimism. I think we need to win our next two games against Preston (away) and Stoke (home) to have a chance. We then have a must win game against Oxford.

9 points from those 3 games and yes we can stay up.

The Luton game was the nail in the coffin for me. 1-0 up going 8 points clear of them and probably ending any chance they had of staying up and we end up losing.

We all know Riza is way out of his depth but this is on the board and their inability to make pro active decisions which will finally catch up with us this season.

I hope not but I have us finishing 2nd bottom only to Plymouth. The club is a shambles.

Yes I do.
Derby and stoke have tougher run ins I think and I beleive 6 points will be enough for us to stay up.

Yes derby have been on a decent run but it will be a tough ask for them to keep up this form especially with us on their tails and only separated by goal difference.

The next two games for us are massive and will go a long way to telling us what league we will be in next season.

Keep the faith

Derby have a better run in than us

1: Plymouth Argyle (1/33 to 1/16 across sources) – Virtually assured of relegation.

2: Luton Town (4/11) – Strong favorite for the second spot.

3: Derby County (7/4), Stoke City (7/4), or Cardiff City (2/1 to 13/8) – Tight race for the final relegation place, with Cardiff’s tougher fixtures making them a slight value pick per some analysts.

⬆️⬆️Latest odds re: relegation according to Grok AI which I find the best of the AI engines.

I'm usually a "realistic optimist" and whilst we still have everything to play for, this is the first relegation scrap season that I am seriously concerned as we just don't seem to be playing like a team with a gun against its head.

All the teams above us have a better goal difference. So it's looking bleak.

Can we stay up? Yes absolutely we can. We are far from a lost cause. We have winnable matches left. Do I think we will? We need to win one of the next two games. If we dont then I think we've had it. A win will change the mood hugely. So I think this is a question for 5pm on Saturday.

6pts from Stoke and Oxford and it's possible but we may need another point because for goal difference.
I'm always optimistic but we need the players to step up and it could happen.

No chance of us staying up if we keep playing like we are.

At the moment yes, the next two games are pivotal. If we don’t win one of the next two, we are down.

I look at the fixtures we got left and I reckon we need three wins to have any chance I can't see us winning two nevermind three so nope we are going to get relegated

Yes I do..I think we will win our next 2 games then another point will probably be enough

Re: Does anyone actually think we'll stay up?

Yes 3 wins will be enough fingers crossed

I don't want to say.

Its turning out as I feared. We are in a relegation slot and the teams around us seem to be handling the pressure better than us. Hope strings eternal has proved me wrong over the seasons but this time I feel we need a lot more of the eternal.

Funnily enough yes,we will get a freak win somewhere and win 2 others

Re: Does anyone actually think we'll stay up?

I’ve said no, as the players don’t seem as invested as they need to be.

Bottling 50/50s, no show of any passion.

I have also voted no because nothing in the last three or four matches have proven to me that the players are up for the fight, and still the utter bull sh@t still comes from Riza.

Gutted and devastated to say NO

No fight, not emotionally invested, it shows with the lack of alertness and awareness to second balls, counter attacks and the opponent changing formation and their effectiveness off the bench. Worse still a manager who is clueless with selection, terrible game management, subs and seen a decline in set play quality and is satisfied with a point in must win games against teams who have one eye on their summer holidays.

Dont get me started on Tan and his clowns, 2 years on and no lessons learned. Anniversary year and its turning into protest year.

I could go on with more reasons, I pray for a miracle we somehow stay up as I think we need one.

The thought of being in League 1 sickens me, even worse if the AWOL team of Tan and his clowns stay on come out of hiding and feed us more spin, how lessons have been learned and 'God willing' we will go for the league 1 title. I can see that happening. That will be a step to far for many of our loyal fans me included. :banghead:

I think we stay up with the exception of Sheffield United away they're pretty good fixtures West Brom and Norwich could well have nothing left to play for.

Re: Does anyone actually think we'll stay up?

Mon Apr 07, 2025 6:56 pm

we had 9 wins all season
just think about that
7 home wins and only 2 away

in terms of draws
4 draws at home
10 draws away

and loses
9 loses at home
8 loses away

Re: Does anyone actually think we'll stay up?

Mon Apr 07, 2025 8:28 pm

I said yes for no other reason than I have to hope we do because I don't want to be miserable until it's mathematically impossible for us to stay up.

Hi everyone my first post since joining.
I think we will stay up this season with a game to spare. A draw tomorrow and win Saturday.

Yes I still think we can stay up.
The problem is it’s down to other team’s results now it’s not in our hands but even though the odds are against us I still believe we can do it.

Unfortunately our 125th anniversary year will be remembered for relegation to L1, Riza’s going for a 100% managerial record, 2 teams managed and 2 relegations!!!
