Colwill is a number 10 not a winger or battling midfielder
O’Dowda is a winger
Robertson is a midfielder not a 10
Turnbull is a midfielder not a 10
Bagan is a fullback not a centre half
Ashford is a striker not a winger

Personally I think we’ve looked best this season with Robertson and Turnbull in the deeper midfield roles. Fish and Daland at centre half. Play Bagan as a fullback and the best available fullback in the other position not a midfielder.

Alves plays as a ten for Leicester

Bagan has done relatively well at CB - better than the likes of Goutas and Daland lately.

Ashford rarely plays as a striker, even for the U21s. He often plays wide.

Rubin's best game of the season was at Villa when he played deeper.

O'Dowda has had his chances as a winger and he never plays well there.

Robertson can play as an eight or a ten but needs permission to drift wide like he did last night, so he can put good deliveries until the box.

Agree about Turnbull though.

This is a much better surmise than the OP in my opinion. Agree with them all.

Bagan, for me, has done much better than relatively well I think he’s been excellent.

And yes, Colwill is much better as a deeper lying ‘quarterback’ type than a no. 10.

Ironically, Chambers has been a career right back and moved into centre back and more recently CDM.
