“ Easter Monday “

Wed Apr 09, 2025 11:20 pm

Oxford are in this relegation fight, that's clear.

Tonight's home defeat to QPR is hugely damaging to them. I expected them to win.

I think Easter Monday could be the key game, when we play them at home.

They're three points ahead of us with a better goal difference but their next two are Sheffield Wednesday away and Leeds at home. I don't see them getting much out of those games. Then they play us.

Before we play them, we have Stoke at home and Sheffield United away.

If, and it's a big if, we can beat Stoke then we will be in a good position going into the Oxford game.

These next two home games are beyond massive.

They only have a better goal difference by 2. If we were to beat them by one goal (as it stands right now) we'd be level on points and goal difference, but ahead on goals scored.

The problem is we've only won twice in our last 12 games and have looked grim in the majority of those matches.

There should No More Ifs or buts, We either beat Stoke and Oxford or We are virtually down .

RIZA’S Ifs and buts are tiring.

First half was awful last night v QPR. It was a major case of after the Lord mayor’s show and beating Sheff Utd.

Disagree Oxford will get nothing from Sheff Wed. They are abject at home and Oxford will need a big response to losing and performing so badly first half.

Second half was some of the best football they have played in ages.

Ciaran Brown looks done for the season though which is huge.

I agree about Sheff Wed. They are very inconsistent. If Oxford lose there they are increasingly in trouble but things swing game by game. Portsmouth not out of it either and they're home to Derby on Saturday. I hope by Easter Monday that the gap between Cardiff and Oxford is less than 3 points. This fixture is likely to be pivotal.

People say we should have beaten so & so but I'm sure other teams targeted games can win and didn't?
Like Oxford beating sheff u but losing to rival next game a game expecting to get at least a point... such is the vagaries of championship football.

I said a few weeks ago with 10 or games to go - Luton - Stoke and Oxford were the key games to get Wins .
At the time I thought we need to get to 49 - 50 pts as our Goal difference was bad bar 2 clubs .

Derby hold the key to what plays out as they play 4 of their last 5 games with teams who could go down .

Sheff Utd are on a run of poor form. Perhaps its a good time for us to play them.

Yes as they will be getting nervous with burnley hot on their tails! Mistakes happen when get nervous wouldn't put it past city to get a draw
