Its a few years old now so its starting to lag even after a complete restore!

I'm starting to edge towards the Mac side now and have bought an iPad which I use far more often than my laptop. Once I save some dosh up I will try and get a MacBook Pro. Brilliant piece of kit.

i use win 7 x64. Nearly all pc gaming softwares will only run on windows and most new softwares come out for windows because thats the most widely used OS. Its the best OS for everyday usage + gaming. If you need any kind of diagnostic work doing you can use a linux distro, ubuntu 10.10 has just been released so thats worth a look on the linux front.

Im running a pc like yours and win 7 handles it pretty well.

You do not know how good Windows & is until you have to revert.

Had a pretty bad problem with my laptop two days ago so had to use the restore disks tha came with it. The original OS on these disks was Vista. Left it there for a day and it was so frustrating couldn't wait to stick Windows 7 back on.

Windows 7 has also brought an old laptop back to life. with an old processor and little memory it was dying under the weight of XP and would NEVER take Vista, but chuck Windows 7 on it and it runs like a dream, great for a 2nd laptop and yonks old.

i would just download windows 7. I have it with work due to our microsoft gold partner thing, but i havent put the key in, all it does is tells you that this copy of windows isnt genuine every so often. then you just click the x

I work in IT in an authority so I could easily get my hands on windows7 and a VLK but I would get into a bit of trouble. I'm sure there are plenty of keys on eBay.

if they have a VLK then under the partnership you are able to use it at home as long as you are in employment with them. Thats what we have been told anyway.
