So, Today's the Day Then

Wed Jan 06, 2010 7:44 am

Could be an interesting day, given Annis saying that today is the deadline for the HMRC payment? Today and until the end of the week will be very interesting, then it seems come February will be the really crucial point. In between that, the meeting in London on the 14th with the Malaysians could provide a lot of info too and certainly give us an indication of their intentions. Personally, it goes wothout saying I hope the takeover happens, though we would be naive to believe takeovers are devoid of risk. The examples of takeovers that have caused more problems than they solved are piling up, though thanks to Peter's shambolic running of our club, it would take quite some doing for the takeover to hurt us more than the current regime is! I also hope that if or when the Malaysians takeover, the current board are completely removed, certainly Peter at the extreme least. I have little doubt we will be taken to the brink, I suppose we are all used to that, but let us hope the Malaysians do invest in our club and equally importantly, run it as a proper business for the first time in living memory. To do that unquestionably requires the complete removal of Peter Ridsdale from our club. I wouldn't trust him as a bloody tea lady at our club.

It is pretty obvious that HMRC will be paid in what ever form - either in full or in installments on the agreement of HMRC - as the Riddler now has the cash - our cash - in the bank to make the payment - therefore, I cannot see a winding up petition being served by HMRC in the forseeable future.

My concern if for the slightly longer term - ie next season when we are still in the Championship, and all our revenue for next seson has already been spent - that's when we need to be concerned about HMRC.

Unless a knight in shining armour appears from the east that is.

You're welcome to your opinion but 'unquestionably requires the complete removal' is not reflective of what the vast majority of Cardiff City fans think. But as Annis says, we are all welcome to have our say.

Is Peter trying to pay off the full amount owed today or an installment of it Annis?

Annis,

Trying to pay the tax you say? You can presume if that is what he has informed you then he has not collected enough funds in to manage it and is still waiting for deposits to arrive from various sources. Do you have any idea how much of the season ticket money for next season was raised via Zebra Finance. It's been a while since I dealt with finance regulations but a few years ago it was the case that the finance fund payments could not be released prior to the consumer being in receipt of the product.

Today's date is not significant. It never has been. The significant dates were in December, and unfortunately it appears that installments which should have been paid on those dates weren't, hence further legal action by HMRC. However, the legal process could be halted this week if the relevant payments are made by the club. If they are not, then the club will almost certainly be back in the High Court and facing another winding-up order in the near future.

I would be amazed if they still insist on all today if they are being offerred a decent lump sum now and the rest in installments.

I've been through something similar and they can be understanding.

Just hope the club have kept them in the lop and not just 'not paid' and waited to be chased as they prefer to be told in advance and negotiated with than lied to.
