Leeds delayed entry...can you help?

Wed Oct 27, 2010 10:40 am

The FSF (Football supporters Federation) are loking into this on behalf of Cardiff City supporters( both the CCSC and the CCST are affiliated to the Federation)

If you were one of the delayed please could you describe how you ended up late getting into the ground...it would help if you recall times you arrived at RV point, time kept there, time taken from RV to ground...how you were led from coaches, turnstile organisation for amount of fans trying to enter ground.

PLEASE BE VERY HONEST GUYS,NO EXAGERATION...just truthful accounts.

The FSF will see if anything can be done, no promises but they will try....the CCSC letter of complaint is excellent and others should also send individual complaints...hopefully our club will also write to the WYP asking for an explaination.

I will link this thread to the FSF coordinator who leads the stewarding and policing group.

What I feel as gone on is the police planned this to make sure the majority of home fans had entered the ground, any hanging around after kick off would have in the main been looking for a bit of trouble and stood out to the police.

They will say their actions were a justifiable action and the lack of problems justified their action (load of bollocks, but that's how it works in their world) ain't fair on our fans this time but i'm sure they do it to others unless someone like the FSF step in.

What I will say is how surprised I was on leaving the stadium to see no Leeds fans at all, they must have gone flat out to drive them away.

At the end of the day very frustrating, but a great win and no trouble reported do help to make up for it slightly, actually think it added to our fans loud and continuous chanting by letting them all in on a mass so late, you could see the Leeds fans thinking " f**k me where did all them come from".

we arrived at RV point between scheduled time, we were there along with around 10 other cardiff city coaches. we were told by the police we could get of the bus but we only had 5mins. hmm 20mins/30ins later we are still milling about with what seemed an army of police. well past 7pm we eventually left in a very slow police escort.
we got to the away car park, few leeds fans lurking about. and were then caged in for a few minutes by a huge police line.
then walked over the road, to which i asked a copper if kick off had been delayed, rumour was it had been deleayed 15mins, he said it had been.
as we got to the away turnstile it was already 7.50pm (game had kicked off) what was atleast 500 fans (10 buses) were kept outside eventually going in 1 at a time through 3 fecking turnstiles
police were very pretty arragont and unhelpful.

so from arriving as one of the last buses at RV point with over an hour to kick off, a 15 minute journey to the ground resulted in myself and many fans missing the first 15 minutes of the game that i had travelled 5 hours for and spend a lot of money on!

When we got to the RV point, a policeman came on our coach saying that we're going to stay here for a bit because of the traffic down in the Leeds city centre and that we would not be able to get to the stadium on time. We finally left the RV point 15 minutes before kick off.

We got to the stadium and all the Leeds fans were allready inside and it was about kick off time.. but the police were saying that they are delaying kick off. I then recieved a phone call from my friend saying something like "what's with the low number of Cardiff fans?" and I explained we were all 1,200 of us were still outside the stadium trying to squeeze through 5 entrances. We could hear the Leeds fans singing from inside the stadium singing "is that all you take away".

We finally got into the stadium and we looked on the big screen, it said that 7 minutes had allready been played. Hundreds of fans were still walking in after 10 minutes.

No exaggeration.

It seems obvious now from further enquiries that all the coaches were delayed due to the fact that one coach was still to arrive at the RV point...this is where the problem lies....they should have taken all the coaches in to the ground by 7...the stranded coach which was late due to an accident in Monmouth would then have been escorted in alone but still by 7.45 alowing the 50 on that coach easy access to the turnstiles....instead of over 500 or more trying to get in at 7.45....there is more to this but the crux is that over 500 fans missed the kick off due to an error by the police at the RV point.

It sounds like WYP had 2 plans.

Plan A.
Get away fans in early.

Plan B.
Get away fans in late.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2010/10/27/fans-anger-over-police-action-at-leeds-match-91466-27548110/

Chief Superintendent Mark Milsom, who was in charge of policing Monday’s match, defended his force’s tactics and praised the behaviour of City supporters.
He explained that because of the layout outside Elland Road, it was impossible for officers to fully separate the two sets of supporters.
“Pre-season we anticipated this to be potentially our most problematic match. The plan was to either get them in early or to get them in late,” he said.

Plan B seems a bit of a fucker for fans that have made a long trek on a Monday night.

WYP loath Leeds fans & I'd doubt they give a f**k if LUFC won or lost 4 nil.

Re Preplanned that is for sure true & WYP had it in mind as an option right back at pre season (see quote above from Chief Super Mick Milsom).

WYP fancied some easy overtime & bollox the fans that had made a 450 mile round trip.
