THE MALAYSIAN LINK

Thu Nov 04, 2010 9:22 am

The more I think about it, the more positives I can see. It really is a flourishing country and a bond between our club and their country could become massive.

Fair play to the club they seemed far more switched on with marketing at the moment but perhaps us fans can play a bigger part to build bridges and it could have massive benefits.

Let's get some ideas out there about building friendships, I am seriously thinking of going on the Malaysian pre season tour, perhaps we could get some links built up prior to this and get some more media coverage in Malaysia.

how about raising the prospect with the local authority of "twinning" a malaysian city with ours , ( like nantes, Stuttgart, Maryland etc)

What about twinning schools - that often gets media coverage too?

the coverage over there about the lad who was mascot against Norwich was amazing considering CCFC are a Championship club at the mo , imagine how we would be perceived as a Prem team out there ? Frightening possibilities :ayatollah:

Twin cities with Malaysia?

Do people seriously want Berman and the council involved in any way, shape or form?

It's clear marketing to Malaysia is a main part of Tan's plan. No problem with that, but let's be honest, Malaysian support is transient. Some students at Cardiff Uni? Whoopee-doo.

As soon as Tan et al depart, you'll not see them for dust.

Malaysian support is definitely a nicety, but it has to be on top of marketing to local support, not in place of it.

Somewhere to start>>> http://www.thebritishmalaysiansociety.org/

The council could get involved, who knows what businesses could be brought to Cardiff?
Don't forget, it's not just the club, it's the City too. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Hi Gwyn ,

I've been to Malaysia about 6 times now ,the weather is hot and humid all year. The Premiership is also pretty big with games been shown on a regular basis . Most of their footy fans go around wearing Man u , Arsenal shirts ... bit like Cardiff really :o
Don't hold back on accomodation if you go , unless you want to be on cockroach watch all night.
The beer tastes pretty good when its sweltering but keep an eye open for their Giant lizards which scared the shyte out of me on my last visit.Once you get there , its as cheap as chips
If you get an opportunity take a stop off in Singapore ( hour away from Kuala Lumpur / Malaysia or a short drive for Johoor Baru which I would imagine any game would be held.) The night life is pretty special if you know what i mean ;) .
Just beware the costs in Singapore are pretty high thou ( £5 a pint)
Anyway if you do havea trip going , I might be able to swing a business trip at the same time. :D

Ive been to Malaysia, great weather there and people.
Beware though, few of my friends hired bikes to go racing around the island, 2 or 3 people had to go back to the UK with broken bones....My boss wasnt happy. :D :D

Gwyn
when we go up it will give VT massive publicity in Asia, no doubt one of his Berjaya companies will be our sponsor as all premier games are shown live throughout most Asian countries.

great place for a pre season tour (Beach Club for "entertainment"  )
bring it on, home game almost for me :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
