Match atmosphere

Mon Nov 29, 2010 3:03 pm

What has happened to the atmosphere since leaving ninian park? i know the stands are not so closed in but ive read threads on ccmb opposing drums ect. i think instruments are so effective for intimidation as thats what cardiff city used to be all about, intimidating opposing fans and players. other teams are laughing at us now as its such a relaxed atmosphere. look at the effect relaxed stewarding and instruments have in porto for example

found this while looking for an example and its like a nazi rally :o . i wouldnt like this

these are just my opinions. let me know what every1 thinks as it seems we have a new type of fan these days. Was standing in the canton stand vs the scabs and had a guy telling us to sit down all game

I think when it is at its best the new ground peaks higher than Ninian Park. Ninian Park was more consistent though. It's well known that if the atmosphere is to improve the stands behind the goals need to be swapped and we need to be allowed to put banners up at the back of the stadium.

The Porto crowd are fantastic....non stop singing and such a variety of songs where everyone seems to know the words. Sadly we seem a million miles off their standard. We wouldn't be allowed such big flags on giant poles in the CCS but I often thought that if everyone took an old City shirt to every game and waved it round above our heads it would create a colourful effect. It would be even better if everyone did this while bouncing and chanting...especially doing the Palace Ultras song which we seem to have adapted. We've all got spare shirts and as they are bigger than scarves it would have a better effect. Could be an original event too as I can't recall seeing any other fans doing it. If we could get the whole of the Canton and Ninian stands doing this I think it would look pretty awesome.

the difference between British support at football and the european ultras, is the ultras have a huge say in how their clubs are run where as British fans dont, ultras are very politically motivated and political parties will put pressure on clubs so the fans get what they want to guarantee votes. This puts fans in a very strong position to the point where the clubs and police let them get away with the atmospheres they produce. In Britain the Clubs and the Police have the upper hand to the point that they can dictate to you how to support your club. If you compare Lazio with the EDL their messages are very similar and both being extremly right-wing. In Italy Lazio fans are allowed to air their political views freely with the atmospheres they produce, where as any attempt from the EDL to make their views onto the terraces were silenced very quickly by the police and the political elite.
Atmospheres like europe will never be seen in Britain untill supporters unite and fight the system that represses football supporters.

The home support at Man U's last away Champions League match out in Turkey was awesome even when Utd were 3 up , looking at the crowd tho they seemed to be about 99% adult males . At the mo in the UK more kids and women are now watching football ( rightly so ) so maybe this is why UK support will never be as nuts as overseas ? :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I don't know about that, my girlfriend goes absolutely nuts at city matches. Most of the people unwilling to participate at our games are men - I think it must be from watching matches on tv. They're stuck in a routine.

get it done then. we need to spred the word on this idea as i want this at every match. 26,000 fans waving blue shirts/flags/scarves and singing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4h9n83SPSA would be so intimidating for away fans/teams.

Have a word with Annis. Where he leads others seem to follow....and he seems to have plenty of followers....plus he seems good at organising campaigns.
