Chopra to Celtic - The Truth

Sun Jan 10, 2010 8:57 pm

I am told this evening that there is some truth in the NOTW story reporting that Chops may be going to Celtic.

I have been told that the club have told Celtic they can have him for £2m down payment and another £2m paid within a year.

I wonder if we'd have to pay Sunderland the full amount that we owe them out of the first £2m. In which case it'll only help us by taking him off the payroll.

Annis will be pleased anyway as it'll open the door for Feeney to stay ;)

the question that must worry the club Annis is have Celtic got the readies ?

I seriously doubt it.

Gordon Strachan is after 3 players from Celtic, perhaps the funds will come from those sales.

And they'll refund it all IF they qualify for the champions league knock out stage

Joking aside though Carl, is this one nailed on? I think it'd be a real pity to lose Chopra. I rate him above McCormack personally

Passing on what I been told Peter so YES it is, the sticking point on the deal is the amount of downpayment

Whats all the panic about, let him go. I like Chops but he is overated & inconsistent, I think he'll find his level in the SPL.

Bad bad move in my opinion.. chops is by far our best option up front at the moment.. yes even better than feeney ( sorry annis) ... if anyone had to go Ross should be the one... sounds like the start of another fire sale to me...

Does anyone know why he wants to leave?

When he came back last season he seemed glad to be back and of course earler in the season when he was scoring regularly he appeared to be settled and happy here.

So why are we now hearing that he's unhappy and wanting to leave again? Is it to do with his well documented personal problems or are there football related reasons?

Seems a bit strange that's all.

I heard Celtic will have quite a few quid after the upcoming sale of McGeady - Heard Birmingham are lining up a big bid for him - maybe the moneys coming from that deal ?

Let's be fair, we're supporters of the club, but even we've had a titfull of the bullshit surrounding the club. If I were a pro at the club, I would be seriously looking at my options, because with our problems, we are going nowhere this season. Even if a takeover does happen, the common consensus says it won't be completed until after the window closes, so how are we going to enhance our BEST EVER SQUAD

I wouldn`t get rid of anyone yet, there`s a long way to go, and I reckon we`re gonna need everyone before the season ends, cos there will be no replacements ! :ayatollah:

It`s a false economy FB, we need promotion, and while it`s touch and go now, get rid of players like Chopra, and it won`t happen, just look at what happened on saturday, and that`s what i mean by needing everyone! :ayatollah:
