Yes I was there and stayed in Blackpool, Going back and for on the train was hairy and during the game, the Scots were ok in Blackpool though, I thought it was just as bad when we beat them 3-0 Toshack hatrick, and every time we played them back then, always passionate and noisy the last time was tame at the CCS and was really disappointed with the fans.

I was there... mini bus from Merthyr.
We walked into the Kop End (the Wales "Home" end) about an hour or so before the game started and were welcomed by a few thousand Scots fans who were all very pissed up.
There was a standoff for a while as all the whiskey bottles started to rain down on the Welsh fans, how the f**k they got those bottles into the ground was beyond believe, although at that time there was hardly any police inside the ground. The police that were inside the ground near the Kop just turned their backs and let it all carry on.
The Welsh fans re-grouped and we started to have a good go at the Scots, they backed away on a few occasions, but they outnumbered us about 2 to 1 .... we gave a reasonably good account for ourselves.
Then the police arrived, batons ready for a fight (mostly with the Scots), the formed a segregation line between the 2 of us and other than a few minor bits and pieces through the game that was about it.

Have never forgiven the FAW for switching that game away from Wales...........correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't that North Walian tw*t, Alan (forgot his surname) the main instigator for that decision??

I was 21 at the time. Bus from Ferndale Labour club. In Chester, five of us had handbags with about 15 Cardiff teenagers, we could have had a right tuning but lucky for us, the rest of the bus came piling out of the Pub and they ran off.

When we got into Liverpool, we thought we had a good drink but there were Scottish bodies everywhere. The ones that could still stand, you couldn't understand a word they were saying. I remember a jock getting on the bus and one of the youngster's on the bus selling him a ticket for 10x the value. The Jock got off the bus with the ticket and the lad who had touted the ticket to the Jock was given a clip by one of the boys. On the radio as we neared Anfield it was announced that 133 Jocks had been arrested that morning for drunkeness in the Liverpool area.

During the game there fights breaking out all over the Kop. Four massive Jocks were standing near me and said to me to stand by them the entire game and no harm would befall me. The amount of drink they had on them beggars belief ( they shared with me) It would have taken a brave copper to take their booze off them. One of the boys got stabbed in the head and ended up in the hospital. Throughout the game you could see pool balls flying through the air but nobody bothered my recently aquired friends.

How anyone sane or sober could have stayed in that ground, I just don't know. An experience I will never forget.

Like the poster above, It doesn't bare thinking about what would have happened if Wales had one.

I wasnt there but was down the Vetch for the same game in the early 80's ( which Wales won ) and the North Bank was a bit tasty that day too , must have been about 200 Cardiff fans down the end closest to the Jocks . Our friends from North of the border didnt understand what was going on infront of them that day :old:  :old:

The Knobheads at the welsh fa I'm sure decided to play it at Liverpool to make money! as Ninian was having the Grange end knocked down and the vetch and wrexham was too small and they did not have a big enough ground. the Jocks were mental in those days I was a Ninian in 1974 for a Home international :old: It was mad on the Bob Bank. They were always pissed as farts and well up for it!and thousands of them like a piss up at a bay city rollers concert ! I did not go in 1977 but watched it at Home Gutted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
