Is Terry Burton up to the Job

Sun Jan 16, 2011 7:47 pm

DJ comes in for a huge amount of stick, for his lack of tactical awareness, no plan B, lack of meaninful substitutions etc (quite rightly in my oppinion some of his decisions are starting to become embarrasing, how he couldnt see the midfield needed bolstering in the 2nd half yesterday if beyond belief)

However, how much help is he getting from Burton and his other backroom staff, are they not strong enough to get him to change things, or just not up to the job??

Burton is a very good coach in my opinion, He is being held back by the dinosaur Dave Jones who will overule his methods

Terry Burton is one of the most highly regarded coaches in the country, but at the end of the day it's Dave Jones's call, that ain't a dig at DJ but it is in defense of Terry Burton, he wouldn't have lasted this long with DJ if he was confrontational.

Part of DJ's strength and weakness at times is that he's deffo his own man, he stands and falls by his own choices, he ain't someone who takes telling, ask some of the players he's shipped out.

we have heard that a few city players have stood up to him then they were shipped out
by him it seems like he will not be questioned about anything and is 100 pcent correct
in everything he does

Gwyn, he maybe a very good coach, but if he is not strong enough to get his points across to DJ, should he be in the job in the first place. Perhaps that what we need, a stronger more forceful no2

Joe Jordan or Mick Harford would probably get their points about more "forcefully" but like you say would DJ ever work with somebody like them
