" LIES, DAMN LIES, AND RUMOURS"

Thu Jan 14, 2010 8:05 pm

I think messageboards -especially football ones - are marvellous. Before they existed, it was impossible to discuss your club with anyone other than your mates, and those who sit/stand around you.

But with them, should come a health warning, something along the lines that a large percentage of people using the board are attention seekers, who can hide behind the anonymity to effectively state in public as 'fact' anything they want, usually to get a response and a thread going.

I have no doubt the Club owes a lot of suppliers a lot of money, and that some of them will be worried about recent events, but lo and behold, all of a sudden we are 'reliably informed' that,

1. The club is locked out of the Vale and cannot use the facilities
2. The club may not get a programme out next tuesday, as the printers are owed money.
3. The supplier of WC paper is owed £8k and is taking the club to court

Utter crap and bollocks, the lot. No proof, no evidence, NOTHING. This board may have advantages over the slowboard, but on the flip side it has spurned so many rumours that were there to be a serious one amongst them, you wouldn't know.

Ridsdale is a scumbag, but that doesn't excuse pathetic attempts to court favour with Mr Abraham by starting rumours that have no solid basis whatsoever.

And I still await a reply from Mr Garcia.

So the winding up order sought by HMR&C has no solid basis?
The fact that the team is training at the stadium rather than the training centre doesn't say anything?
There are those who can't see the wood for the trees.
Denial never works.

These rumours can also be damaging to the club.

I wish they would stop appearing.

Whilst I cannot substanciate number 2 and 3, I can tell you that number 1 is true. The club were locked out of the training ground. They were allowed to use it today as assurances were given to Gerald Leeke over owed monies. I have had this confirmed to me by numerous people close to both the club and from the Vale, and while I have no hard evidence to show you, you have no evidence on the contrary.

Furthermore, if you don't like what you read on the board, don't read it!!

The team trained at the Vale today. What does that tell you ?

As for sources, have you actually seen one source quoted for all these rumours ?

City have enough problems without our own fans making it worse.

And the guys from the Vale believed what they were told??

I thought this was a board for open debate ? If there is something which I dont like then surely its best if I disagree with it ?
Or is it a private board just for slagging off our club ?

In my eyes these rumours are damaging to the club I support. I cant refute you any more than you can prove it. You may well be right about this, you may be being misled, who knows, but its become silly season regarding the clubs debts.

We owe millions, there will always be people putting pressure on us to pay. Sometimes with legal threats, sometimes with threats of withdrawing services. Lots of people are having trouble getting money out of the club, because they are skint, but in the last couple of days its almost become a competition to see who can bring up the next problem.

I'm all open for debate. I actually thrive on an argument, if it's constructive. This board has been a breath of fresh air as opposed to the other board as thus far, there has been no personal squabbles, no abuse - personal or otherwise. And we aim to keep it that way. Yes, the rumours aren't helping the club, they're adding to the gloomy atmosphere currently surrounding all things Cardiff City but it's not to say they arent true. I have never posted rumour, only what I know to be true. Annis, I know has somewhere in the 99.9% strikerate of getting things right. But to be told we're talking bollocks because what we say isn't good news isn't helpful either. We just try to share information about our club. Not everybody will always agree with everybody. I personally don't like Dave Jones, but I know for every one of me, there's 10 people who do. But to be told I'm talking bollocks just because people don't like what I say is hardly constructive.

Fair comment.

 I just realised you were replying originally to the opening quote. I was thinking 'why is he saying, I've said he's talking bolllox'

My comments are related to the rumours overall.

Problem is with the proliferation of wild rumours on here yours, which may well have had some substance may well get lumped in with the rest.

Don't worry, like you I've had a gutsful of it, and want an end to it, but as I dont have £10m to put in then I have to suffer too.

In the meantime I'll keep supporting the club and getting behind the players.

Hopefully the AGM/EGM will happen and I'll have my opportunity to have my say to the people who are in control.

I've been 'told' things about Cardiff City, many times. However, none of them are a fact until there is collaborative proof.

I asked a simple question in another thread, 'where did the players train today' ? All those 'insiders' who even told us tales of players' lockers having the locks changed, couldn't tell me. somebody told us on good authority they were training up at Merthyr, to avoid a scandal. Then, it emerges [above] , the players actually DID train at the Vale. Oh SHIT ! END OF DRAMA. But no, another poster is reliably informed by SEVERAL people at the club that they were only let back because Gerald Leeke had been told the debt was about to be settled.

For heavens sake, get a grip everyone. This 'TNT' . Do you really think he is anyone more than just another sad keyboard warrior living out his fantasy ? I doubt he even has a job. Think about it. read his posts. He's a fantasist, feeding off those who hang on his every word. Garcia ? Don't even ask.

This club is in the Cack. we are being screwed, mainly by Ridsdale, but also PMG, that's a fact and we all know it . So let's just stick to facts from now on. I will.

Mr. D I think that goes to the heart of what QM is saying.

Sorry to disagree with you but you have posted a rumour before, indeed you have done so in this thread. I refer you to the above where you say the team were locked out of the training ground. You substantiate it by saying 'I was told this by people at the club and the vale'

That is rumour and the fact the team trained at the new stadium for a couple of days is just circumstantial not proof. There could be several reasonable explanations to why they trained at the stadium including the recent bad weather. Unless you have a direct quote from an official source at either the club or the vale then what you have is nothing but rumour, even if in good faith you believe it to be true.

While rumours have their place, they should be treated with care and it helps if alternative explanations could be posted and debated also.

Re: " LIES, DAMN LIES, AND RUMOURS"

I've never posted a rumour and never believe anything until it happens. I love the speculation, it's all part and parcel of football on the pitch and off it but take everything with a pinch of salt because only about 10% of it comes true. None of us, even Annis, really know what this board is up to. So none of us can reliably make any claims unless there is solid evidence, which their rarely is.

Exactally there wouldn't be a message board unless speculation was allowed.

However, I think QM warned against speculation being treated as fact and can understand where he was coming from with that.

Yeah, I totally agree Tony. It's just a case of using common sense and realising that a lot of stuff is used and sensationalised so people can appear to give their opinions some weight. Like I said, it may be true on a few occasions but not all occasions.
