Your very first Swansea away game !!

Mine was i think 82/83 and it was during the Miners strike. We arrived in Swansea by train the pubs were all shut but there was a massive mob of us that found two pubs that was still open opposite each other. After about an hour the old Bill came in the pub and asked the Landlord if he wanted us all out but the Landlord said no as we were all behaving and putting one hell of a lot of money in the till. A group of us young uns, and me in my brand new Pringle Jumper!! went out looking for some Jacks to set up, and it wasn't long before we ran into a mob of Jacks, Lovely jubbly we had em they took one look at us and charged at us so we legged it back to the two Pubs, and boy were we fast and we had to be. As we ran around a street corner straight into our boys there lot ran straight into our lot and needless to say none of them got away .
We then started marching heading for the Vetch about a 1000 of us and it was one mean ugly bunch, many of these guys were striking Miners and they were very pissed off. In the distance we could see a massive mob heading our way and i would say it was bigger than the one we had, Every one just charged at each other but it soon became apparent that this Mob was also Cardiff, now f**k me we now had a Mob of well over 2500 and it was awsome.

No Swansea that day came out to play or none of which i saw. But this Mob wanted to fight and there was only one lot they wanted to fight more than the Jacks and that was the old Bill and the chants of "the Miners united we'll never be defeated" rang round all day. And the coppers that day i swear were shitting themselves it was a mad mad day.
Inside the ground the City were trying to rip down the fence to get to the coppers and they were smashing the fence with there truncheons and i swear to god i can't even remember the score that mad day. But i couldn't wait for my next visit to Jack land and the next time i went i ended up arrested spent all day in the cells and fined over a months wages. Had it been today it would of been a stretch inside.

I have never been to Swansea recently i would of gone this time, had i had the correct amount of away games but to be honest i would rather keep my memories of a time gone by when Cardiff took the piss every time we went to that shit hole.

1981-82 faw cup final,i think we lost.

My first one was in 87/88 at the vetch it was a 2-2 draw went in the upper tier in the home end behind the goal with the old man,pretty much went each year we played up there with the old man after that. I love the Swansea cardiff derby ,the build makes me nervous for weeks before ,I know most of the lads tend to stay away from swansea these days because of the bubble but i couldnt give a shit about all the hold ups and being treated like a tw*t by the filth ,to me its imperative that i go to swansea away always

Would have been about 68 and i think it was a Welsh Cup replay anyway we won 2-0 but what i'll never forget is being twelve year old and thinking what the f**k have i done, cause i've gone on the North Bank assuming all City would be there[after all there was little segregation in those days]only to see our lot stood behind one of the goals.LOL.

Hold onto and cherish these memories lads, because a lot of people would kill to have experienced a derby 'back in the day'. Me included

This was 83-84 season.....the game in question was easter 84....Fabulous day..which has been well documented in TR & DJ Original Soul Crew book

In the 70s welsh cup game on a wdnesday night, we came out and ran at the north bank when they were all hiding around a corner they all steamed out and we legged it......well i was only 14

1981-82 faw cup final,i think we lost.

We certainly did lose...we were one up in the 1st 5 mins a goal by gary bennet....i remember it was 1-1..when citys wayne hughes was clear through on goal only to be choped down by one of their yugoslave players...the game ended 2-1 to the jerks..
The West Terrace was rammed with city ....City were also in the north bank that night....a load from the Rhonnda Fawr..and port talbot steaming across behind one of the tunnels..

That was also the night one old bill had a dart in his head..

New Years Day 1980.

You don't get many games with that type of atmosphere now.

FA CUP in 1991 also my first away game - !!!

Boxing Day but I can't remember the year or final score - I know we went one up after about the 30 seconds, but got a feeling the jacks equalized - would have been late 80s/early 90s.

my 1st game down the Vetch was a Welsh Cup match in the mid 70's ........... we won 3 - 0 I think and it may have been Brian Clark's 1st game back after we signed him the 2nd time ? It was the season we got promoted from the old 3rd div and the season we 1st wore the all blue kit with the yellow / white stripe

2nd game was a 1 - 1 draw the season they went up to the old 1st div and was on MOTD !

3rd game was the FAmouse FA Cup match

81-82 welsh cup final 2nd leg lost 2-1 after 0-0 at home,Absolute murder there cardiff everywhere in a crowd of 16,ooo.

1991 fa cup first round ,hard to belive now looking back drove down parked by the prison and paid on the gate ,also i know its not the bluebirds away but welsh cup 5th round (quater final)barry town v swansea 1984 drew 1 all

Very recent for me...the Carling Cup game a few years back.

Nightmare of a day....Drove from Carmarthen to Cardiff then back to Swansea then to Cardiff then back to Carmarthen.

All after two job interviews in the morning.

The result didn't help at all!!

2nd leg of the littlewoods cup tie in 1988 for me. The loudest "your not singing anymore" i think i'd ever heard at that point in my young life. The next one i can remember was the fa cup in 91 but nothing really happened that day did it?
For some reason i cant remember why i went to the vetch for the welsh cup final swansea v kidderminster, just 2 of us. Got busted in the away end by a load of Wolves fans who thought we were waving to our jack 'mates' on the north bank. I lost a few items of clothing to them that day but at least we escaped a right shoeing. At least until after the game when we ran into some jacks.....not a good day out in swansea. It wasnot a derby game but i will never forget alan curtis goal in that welsh cup final....live long in the memory. free trains, free entry..freedom of swansea....those were the days....

first game down the vetch wales v the sweaties iwas in the east stand with my dad plenty of action on northbank with ccfc v jacks
2nd game went with school friends jacks v man city 1st div had a clip of man city when it kicked off in north bank i was only 12 and had a tear or two a fact that the one of the jacks never lets me forget
3rd game easter 84 thousands of ccfc in the away end and city on the pitch
the 91 game has got to be the one tho...crazy

Got arrested the 1-1 game in 1980 when healey saved the pen , got dragged to the cells via the north bank covered in spit

Got chucked in a cell with a cardiff skinhead with a moheekan from bridgend mad as a box of frogs.

fa cup 91 was the maddest by far.

1991 FA cup game was the first away derby game.

Crazy day.

Remember all of those balls landing in the away end and getting thrown back on the pitch burst ? and buses with no windows left ?

It was a wild day all round.

Last year at the liberty! Never felt so loved in my life!!!!! all three sides of the stadium were full of..wait....Hate filled pensioners....little kids and WOMEN All shouting abuse and the hatred was phenominal...also they outsang us which is rare away!!!!
