WE GET AN AVERAGE OF OVER 20,000 FOR OUR HOME GAMES

Sat Jan 16, 2010 6:05 pm

Yet we take less than 500 to Scunthorpe, yet when we were in the lower leagues getting 4,000 home we would take 600 to Hartlepool

Annis I think people are just getting fed up of all the bullshit at the club & the shit spouted by Pistol & Jones

As our home attendance grows, our away dissolves.

Sad, really as the home crowd makes as much noise as one of our fans at an away game.

I totally agree about that, but we were in the fourth Division and we had a hard core following no matter what in them days.

Honestly i just dont think people are as passionaite about following their club anymore :( People would rather sit at home and watch Soccer Saturday than go to the likes of Blackpool and spend £50.

:( i wish we turned up in our thousands to places like Scunthorpe, Blackpool, Ipswich but we don't. I love going away with the City it is much better than home games, but I just cant afford to go away every 2 weeks, so I like mot just pick and choose games to go to. O well Tuesday here we come, and it is my birthday on Tuesday so I hope it is a good result and a good night :ayatollah:

Also, you used to be able to decide to go on the spur of the moment and just drive up or catch the train on the morning of the game and pay on the gate. A lot of people can't be bothered to buy tickets in advance, or they just don't think about it and, by the time they decide they want to go, can't get a ticket anyway. It was much more fun going to football back in the old days

Wasnt that the first game of the season ?

I can remember going to Huddersfield (cohen Griffiths debut) and there being not much more than 100 City there and 10 of them were mates who'd come to visit me in college and werent really interested in City.

Mansfield - about 200

Both games were saturdays.

We didnt have good followings all the time. And those days you could pay on the gate.

I'd expect scunthorpe to be the least attracive of our saturday away games this season, after all quite a few on here normally go away but are posting from home instead.

Mid 80s before we dropped to the 4th division I would say we took around 200 to all the away games I went to. Mind you that was around Lincolnshire area where I lived at the time. One coach thats all I would see at these games.

Two things have impacted massively.

1. The Cost of Watching Football

2. The Recession

In fairness Annis our away following has been pretty good this year, from memory apart from Boro, Sheff Weds and Scunthorpe we've taken over 1000 everywhere.

I think thats an improvement on last year.

True, but its not good compared to how the home crowds have increased.

I have been thinking about what you said, in 1986, at places like Torquay, Stockport, Hartlepool,Bournemouth,Exeter,Shrewsbury etc I Rem at least 600 going to these places, sometimes 1,500 mostly lads I admit, but GREAT SUPPORT :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Yup, the good old days

Torquay on a cold boxing day, we won 2-0 and Torquay forgot their kits, so they had to use our away ones
And who give a shite?
Nowadays i think they FA would have deducted Torquay 10 points and given a £2m fine for that.
I think Deon Burton may have scored both the goals in that game.

Honestly if we were ever relegated, i don't think it would be the same as it was when we were in the dungeon leagues before.
A quarter full CCS would be a graveyard.
