The "God" comment was (apparently) made by Dave Jones..

I just e-mailed Peter regarding his recent comments. As we know, the official website now denies that Ridsdale made the anti-English comment. So I asked him if he still stands by this comment which the paper also attributed to him:

He added: "I’ve never known anything like the hate here – they chant 'Stand up if you hate the English'. To be honest, if God was the manager here he wouldn't be good enough for some of these fans."

I know that people here are - understandably - more concerned about the anti-English quote (which has been denied), but I was still interested in seeing about the God quote. Anywhoo, Peter's reply was:

So there we go. Peter didn't say *anything* wrong at all, and the God quote was Dave Jones' fault... according to Ridsdale. </Sarcasm>

Plus the above quote (attributed to Dave Jones) actually does contain a "the fans are anti-English" element to it, too.

So in other words Peter has said we should blame Dave Jones for this, not Ridsdale?

One of the newspaper articles didn't mentioned Dave Jones in it, hence why I got a little confused. (The other one did, to be fair, say "And Dave Jones said..")

Either way, this doesn't look good. Even if Ridsdale has denied it, DJ has said it (and not denied it).

Hands up I don't attend away games, but my only recollection of the 'stand up' song at CCS is if you hate Swansea. Stand up if you hate England did get an outing during the Wales vs Scotland game where the whole stadium stood up including the away fans.
