Last season they missed out on the playoffs on the last day of the season and are in the promotion race again this time round, sitting a point and two places above the Foxes.
In the FA Cup Cardiff needed a replay to see off Bristol City in the Third Round. After a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate, a Bradley Orr own goal gave Cardiff the victory and a place in the Fourth Round.
Other than the midweek victory, Cardiff have been in indifferent form of late winning only one of their last six games in all competitions. This includes letting a four goal advantage slip at bottom of the table Peterborough.
Despite this Cardiff are a team to fear going forward with the likes of Peter Whittingham, Chris Burke and the prolific Michael Chopra in their ranks.

The last time Leicester City played Cardiff City was nearly two years ago at the Bluebirds' old stadium Ninian Park.
The game was settled by an own goal from Cardiff defender Darren Purse midway through the first half. Despite the narrow margin of victory Ian Holloway's could easily have gone away from South Wales with more goals.
Bluebirds' goalkeeper Peter Enckelman was in excellent form right from kick off making excellent saves to deny DJ Campbell and Steve Howard within the first ten minutes.
Howard went close again, heading wide from a Clemence cross, before Purse deflected the ball past Enckelman to give Leicester the advantage.
After the break Howard and Clemence both went close, whilst at the other end the Foxes defence and in particular Patrick Kisnorbo held firm to keep a clean sheet.
