I don't think anyone's got aproblem with Ben Steele, hope he understands that everyone is so fed up of the PR spin and Ridsdaleism's that everyone doubts anything the man says and are so negative about yet another "investor".
Let me assure you Ben on behalf I'm sure of all Cardiff fans, if you are genuine and come here, you will be welcomed with open arms, you look like you would fit well in amongst us, we ain't your traditional club, and you don't look like your traditional club owner. I'm sure we'd be a great match.
To get where you have at such a young age deserves respect, it's simply as I've said above, we are spun out, and it's a case of we'll believe it when we see it.
I'm sure you are street wise enough to suss out con men and watch out for your back, but keep your wits about you and hope things come good.
Allegedly.

The only words I have for Ben Steele are that he should treat us with respect, honesty and loyalty. If he offers us that then he has our allegiance for as long as he wants it.
Just be truthful to us Ben Steele. That's all we want.

Couldent have put it better gwyn
bit of advice though ben do the due diligence first and i think you like all other investors will realise that you need a brand new CEO to run the club alongside you as the current one has and will continue to run the club into the ground unless he is stopped soon

If genuine
His Southampton offer certainly wasn't regarded as so by the administrator - cash purchase, no due diligence whatsoever?
Sorry, but we need people involved with a good business sense, running the club well. The fact the Malaysians seem to be incredibly thorough with their due diligence shows me that a) they are very serious and b) good business people.
Steele also seems to be a bit of a sensitive soul based upon his Echo comments...

Well said Gwyn, Mr Steele if you are serious about investing in our club why not come on here and build up a rapport with the people that should matter the most the fans. Look forward to seeing you on this board.

I would stay clear if i was him regarding messageboards as it gives the impression that all city fans are moaners and taking daily negative pills!!

Think he was led up the garden path by SOuthampton was never a front runner
Quote from a Southampton fan
The guy who took us over is worth £4bn, he isn't. That's what happened there.
He was never really considered a main front runner, our administrator always said that the Pinnacle group led by Le Tiss were the favourites with a 'mystery foreign buyer' (our owner now) second favourite. There were then a few local businessman making up the numbers.
Personally I would rather he just keep quiet and get on with the transaction and then say what you have to say after but taking a pop at the fans is not the greatest move ever

ok so a self made millionaire worth £200 million has no business sense? is that what you are saying? And your business experience, sense and worth are what? what qualifies you to assume that Ben Steele has no business sense? and as for being a sensitive soul , why does that make a difference.
He has every right in my opinion to be sensetive when he is potentially going to save our club, but people who do not know him ,criticise him .
If he has the money surely we should be doing everything we can to support him and get him on board.

Look, you, I anyone a fan of the club doing this... we'd do it because of our love for CCFC.
Someone with zero connection to the club whatsoever wanting to invest without doing due diligence? Eh... investing a fifth of his reported wealth without finding out every little single issue with the finances?
If he's genuine, then great. If he's not, then nothing really changes.
What we seem to have is PR dealing with Steele, other board members dealing with the Malaysians. This has the potential to go very wrong, very quickly, no?
Fri Jan 22, 2010 1:20 pm
Oh, and reading his comments on the Wales Media site, he claims 40m is a quarter of his worth.
So, down from 200m to 160m then... tomorrow 120, possibly then 80...
Now Steele's problem appears to be that people are questioning because we don't know him. That's PRECISELY why people should be questioning. Whoever takes over next will be absolutely critical to the club; I'd personally be more annoyed if people weren't wanting to know everything!
Steele seems shrouded in mystery - little known about him. All people know is reported background, claimed wealth which has changed and the failed Southampton bid. If he doesn't want to engage with fans to clear up any misconceptions, an incorrect facts then should he take over I doubt we'll have a more transparent regime than the current one.

Agree mate. We're immediately suspicious as our trust has been raped over the last 5 years.

agree with Gwyn 100%
I Mr Steele shows honesty he will be more than welcome at the Cardiff City Stadium, If shows some passion as well then the fans will be singing his name,
not lie about a £2.7m tax bill and sell 10 thousand season tickets on a false promise of making that money available to strengthen the team and he will be ADORED by the fans

I've seen a lot of quotes about this Southampton thing. Anyone got any links to fact.
He says he was genuine, but wasnt given a proper chance, seems to me the criticism of his approach there is mainly based on hearsay.
As to due diligence then thats his choice, he may think the time lost may cost more than a few skeletons.
Unsuprising that the guys in Southampton wanted to drag it out a bit as they could charge more in fees
I'll be keeping an open mind over Mr Steele and judging him on his actions rather than the circumstances of his failed bit for Southampton.

Is there any proof that this fella has that sort of money or anything like it?
If so, where have you seen it?

TLG, Steele has said to google him and he has sold a lot of cars, what more proof do you need...

Crazy, isn't it? I've Googled him alright. All I've found are reports of his so-called attempt to buy Southampton and his recent links with us. Apart from that, I've found nothing about this man whatsoever.
Has anyone managed to find anything, or are we relying upon Terry Phillips' reports in the Echo?

Nothing.
Although there is a way, companies house web-site, find out which companies he's a director of and then get the accounts for those.
Time-consuming, not free and probably will still leave you in the dark.
He says he's worth £160m (as £40m is 1/4 of his wealth), but there is no way of corroborating this.
I guess if he can pull £40m together (although I still dispute this figure as being what will actually be needed at day 1), then he must be pretty well off
.
Its basically a case of wait and see for me. I'm not 100% its serious anyway.

Not at all this time Croesy, seems we are as one this time around!
We all know what's going on, its spin by PR because his lies, deceit and incompetence have forced away the only interested party, the Malaysians, and he is now desperately trying to force them back to the table by dreaming up ever more elaborate scenarios to try and do so. Laughable attempt as we are in such dire financial trouble, any prospective investor holds all the aces. The Malaysians will take us to the brink of admin, then hopefully invest at the last minute for as low a price as possible, good for us, not great for Peter of course, but that is only a possibility if PR is not around. If PR remains for any length of time, administration, probable relegation and a whole world of hurt await us. All allegedly of course, just the same as he allegedly has a few personal interests in how this pans out. He should never again be or been able to in the first place run a bloody papershop again, never mind a football club.

Google, Ask etc turn up very little apart from the fact his company has made a few planning applications in Guernsey.
However his partner in crime on the botched Southampton takeover Quentin Hubbard apparently once held directorships at Fulham FC and Harrods.
That leads us to Mohamed Al Fayed who apparently has a cataphrase "want to buy a car?"
Well that's the best link to Ben Steele and £200m I can find

The interesting thing I found when Googling his name yesterday was that the Guernsey press seemed to know next to nothing about Ben Steele. That rang a few alarm bells.
Search Paul Guy's name on the icWales site and you get plenty of hits regarding lots of business deals.
