FOR THE FIRST TIME I WILL HAVE TO ADMIT

Wed Jan 27, 2010 11:20 am

Dave Jones is doing a Good job under the current circumstances, We are 4th in the league and in the 5th round of the FACUP and he has NO BACKING from OUR CHAIRMAN and DJ himself was promised players. I have never been a Fan of his, but at this current moment he is doing an excellent job.

I just wish he would speak out. PR couldnt sack him.

I also know that DJ really believed he would have money This January and I Can Confirm, Routledge was one of his main priorities, but once again PR never backed him.

I have a feeling that we will see a major player sold before the deadline.

This will probably be witts,Chopra, Bothroyd or Macormack.

Or all of them.

Mozzer, the one thing you will find with me, I will always be Honest and give My Opinion, at this current moment, with a thin Squad, No money and false promises, plus many players carrying injuries, Dave Jones has gone up in My estimation.

I agree, I feel the same.

Annis, as much as it pains me to say, but if we fail to get promoted this season - it will NOT be Dave Jones fault. I still don't like the guy, but it seems like he has his hands tied by PR making his job an unenviable one. If we do get promoted, then it would mean Dave Jones has, this season, done a miraculous job!!

He still has his rather obvious (and large) faults like being tactically inept at times, having no plan b and being a bit spineless, but to be fair he has assembled a bunch of players who are the most skillfull I have seen at the club. They are capable of some spectacular football at times. I've moaned on here that they are bottlers (and I still haven't seen anything that changes my mind) but I've never moaned about their lack of skill. I'd love it if they proved me wrong, and if DJ pulls it out of the bag then yes, this season, he would've done magnificently.

d.j will never speak out against p.r, not because he is loyal to .pr but because he is loyal to the club.
he is doing a good job.
if there was no money issues hanging over our heads we would all be singing dave's praises.
4th in leaugue.
in 5th round of cup.
as blazing saddles would say, stay positive. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

At least you have been big enough to admit that Jones is doing a good job at the moment!! ;) Hopefully the team can get 4 points against Donny and Newcastle in the next two games to carry on the good work!!

Cheers, Told you I say what I really believe and at This moment I cannot fault him :ayatollah: :ayatollah: , except he should stand up to PR.

The trouble is that he shouldn't have to, the other board members should be doing that shouldn't they? Jones has got enough on his plate at the moment with the virus and other injury problems, if he stands up to Ridsdale and it gets out that they are at each others throats he or the players may start taking their eye off the ball and with Doncaster on Saturday I don't think that would help.

I can see where your coming from, but PR promised him money for players and blatantly lied to him.

It has always been my opinion that DJ's biggest asset is he's a lucky barstard. You have highlighted all that is wrong with him and I certainly wouldn't argue with any of it.

However, his luck as on previous occasions has come riding to his rescue. Like a few seasons ago when Parry moved up front and sparked the run to the Cup Final the club's present circumstances are contributing to our recent up turn.

Due to injury illness and plain lack of playing resources he has had rotate the squad and give a chance to players who have been ignored up until now.

For example Blake, McCormack and Gypyes have made a remarkable difference and it does make you wonder just what might have been had they been given a fair chance earlier.

Re: FOR THE FIRST TIME I WILL HAVE TO ADMIT

As you all know, I am a big backer of Dave Jones but even over the past few weeks I found a couple of decisions a bit bizarre. However, this has always been the case. He's not perfect, otherwise he'd be a Premiership manager and let's face it, even they have their flaws e.g. Benitez, Ferguson and Wenger.

Dave Jones has progressed with us every season and even though we're not making the progress at the pace most impatient (and rightly so, they pay money they deserve success a.s.a.p.) fans expect, we are making progress which is great when you consider teams like Portsmouth, Crystal Palace, Coventry and Plymouth who aren't really going anywhere positive in the near future.

I am a firm believer that generally you make your own luck. Bad luck comes from lack of preparation and good luck comes from solid preparation. Obviously that theory's not watertight but you can shift the odds in your favour. Dave Jones does generally prepare his players well and I still firmly believe we will make the playoffs this season. I still don't think we've got enough to get promoted but we'll give it a crack.

Re: FOR THE FIRST TIME I WILL HAVE TO ADMIT

It's not just how DJ has got them playing great football, he also seems to have instilled a bit of backbone that has been sadly lacking for a while.

Scunthorpe we battled back from being a goal down in a tough game where we weren't at our best. At the 1st Bristol game we controlled the game on a surface fit for penguins and were unlucky. 2nd Bristol we controlled and got the bt of luck we needed. Leicester we battled back to not only level but then go and and win it. Last night just magnificent performances wherever you looked on the pitch. All against a bcakdrop of financial uncertainty and illness and injuries on the playing side.

Annis is right. If we don't go up this season then PR should hang his head in shame because if we just added 2-3 quality loan signings to what we have then automatic promotion would still be a possibility never mind the play-offs
