I am not usually privy to hearing messages from the horses mouth as it were, but knew last week that there would be no signings before the transfer window closed so today's club statement has not come as a surprise to me. Whilst naturally disappointed that the promised signings would not materialise I took comfort from hearing that things were not as bad as everyone was making out and that a winding up order would never be allowed to happen. The person in question was very relaxed about the whole position without disclosing the facts behind this confidence.
I like to think as most of the people in the know on here are suggesting, that efforts are being made to bring the Malaysians on board. If indeed as has been suggested that they have invested the additional £300K for wages then that has to be very encouraging sign. It would seem therefore that they are comfortable with the due dilligence that they have carried out except it would seem for one aspect of it, Peter Ridsdale!
I think it is pretty evident to the majority that like Sam had to go to allow the stadium to proceed, then Peter has to go to allow the investment to proceed. Its quite sad that a man who promised transparency will end up being kicked out of the club by telling porkies. Clearly the proposed financing of debts from player sales (Ledley/McCormack) coupled with the stalled Malaysian investment has caught up with Risdale. For the majority of his spell at City I truly believe he has worked miracles at times albeit possibly being paid too highly for it and he was well on the way to restoring his reputation in the game. This desire to be respected was however his ultimate downfall as he clearly didn't want to admit that the club was in financial difficulties especially when there was a potential major investor around. Maybe if he had been transparent as he promised when he came on board then the fans would have understood the club's current difficulties especially considering the club is performing on the field. His decision to hide the truth however, when both negotiating with investors and in inviting fans to invest in players was plain stupid and quite unforgiveable and will now ultimately be his downfall and could result in him never being involved in football again. We all make bad decisions in life but to have made such crucial bad decisions at 3 football clubs does tend to suggest that Mr Ridsdale should perhaps now stay away from the game altogether

i think it was the shortfall cash for wages that was invested today that brought the reality of the situation home to our chairman hence the retaliatory statement on the club website
