RESPECT FOR BORLEY

Thu Jan 28, 2010 6:51 pm

Respect for Steve Borley,Earlier today that was the last thing on my mind. I thought he'd sold us down the river and like so many others was tamping. We have heard, and been told that the Malaysians would no longer deal or even speak to PR. We had also been told that if PR offered his resignation, they'd bite his hand off to accept it.

Now Steve Borley and Paul Guy were in a position to accept that today, but for whatever reason they didn't accept it. I felt double crossed "peaceful demonstration was the last thing I was considering".

However as if to steal my thunder I then had a call of Steve Borley and we had a good chat, he is devastated at how events have panned out, he knows fans feel confused and let down by todays action, or lack of it by himself and Paul Guy to some extent ( more so by Steve because he knows the responsibility of the trust we place in him)

I was aware he wanted to tell me more in confidence, but I stopped him in his tracks and said that whatever he said in confidence to any of us, would be over the message board in minutes, personally I don't want to keep secrets or have inside knowledge, and the pressure that goes with such "confidences".

There are reasons behind todays actions (and I promise you, I don't know the reasons,or I'd have to tell you) what I am prepared to do for my own case, is to sit tight, trust that Steve still has the fans and the club's best interests at heart.

It does look like the Malaysians are still interested in us and big time,it will all become clear soon enough I hope.Steve is hoping there will not be any major disruptive demonstrations on Saturday, but I don't think he's naive anough to think there wont be some sort of demo. However any trouble and hysterical press coverage of events could lead to the Malaysians thinking we are to hot to handle.

I can see where Steve is coming from, far Eastern countrys and people are a lot less demonstrative and more honourable in business matters and seeing us climbing over the walls, burning effigy's of Ridsdale as we would have done ten years ago, will see them running for the Malaysian hills and looking for something else to do with their money.

Personaly I am fed up with the waiting for deadlines, last minute bailing us out, being taken to the wire threats of admin and winding up orders etc. Most of us are at the end of our tether, and please be patient please wait and see, and it will be O'K' tomorrow, next week, next month or next year no longer approach, it no longer washes with us.

I am now just hoping the Malaysinas will be in soon, and PR will be gone before he get's forced to give shareholders the EGM they are legally allowed to demand.

We must get behind the TRUST the EGM must be forced, the clock is ticking but it's now ticking to the TRUST'S time scale, they can't duck the EGM for too long.

I am sure some details thrown up by this EGM will shock us to the core, when details about some of the financial dealings PR'S made, are as transparent as he promised, he'll have no where to hide. The best he can hope for is a job selling cars for Ben Steele, they'll be good company. Allegedly.

So not an appeal off me, I'm jsut one of you, confused, fed up, angry and hopeful of a good outcome, what will be,will be this Saturday, but hopefully we can keep things in check so fingers can't be pointed at us if the invetors are scared off.

Another 6 nil win wont hurt, but a defeat will surely bring things to a head, here's hoping for the best result, whatever that may be.

The Malaysians are businessmen.

Given Ghee's close links with Tan, I highly doubt they'd run a mile when protests rightly occur. Tan, after all, has McDonalds, Starbucks franchises in Malaysia. It's awfully naive to expect ALL Malaysians to know nothing of other cultures. Bit insulting and stereotypical, tbh.

Maybe the Malaysian interest will fall through. I'd say lie after lie to them may have a bit more of an impact.

If people don't protest and make their feelings known, well, the club will be hurt irrespective. Ridsdale MUST go before he screws things around even more. That's the priority - the Jacks, to their credit realised this and drove Petty out of town.

The longer Ridsdale remains, the less chance there will be anything left of our season, anything left of our squad and more importantly, anything left for the Malaysians to invest in.

SB has to be open and frank(what has it got do with him?) with everyone if they want the backing, support and TRUST of the fans.

Ridsdale has got to go. I cannot support any of the board until that parasite goes as by not demanding his resignation the board are backing someone who is ruining our club.

It's a step if he's coming on here.
I hope he's prepared for a rough ride as there are a lot of people feeling let down at the moment. They don't need patronised, they need the truth.

Honesty is the only way any of the board is going to get any support from the fans(and there is very little if any of that left tonight).

Re: RESPECT FOR BORLEY

I'm presumomg that Steve Borley's requests are homoured and there will be no demo after the game. Personally, I agree with the sentiments about not havig a demo outside the ground. Inside, I feel we should be allowed, and expected, to voice our opinions and feelings. But I don't think the Malaysians really would appreciate a mass demo outside the ground

dont protest it might scare the malaysians off my ass.. if they havnt been scared off by ridsdales crap they never will..
city fans have put up with enough shit for the last few years and have taken it sitting down i think now is the time to stand up and show we aint taking it any longer...

I think anything that any of the directors say, now has to be taken with a large dose of sceptisism. To be blunt, what Borley has said to the couple of 'contact's on this board, is exactly what I would say in the situation.

He aint fkin rung me !! He must have lost my number. Only joking! Don't you just love all this drama. It can only happen at Cardiff City!! You know when SB starts to post on the messageboard things are pretty fkin serious. Don't know why people around these parts have doubted him in the last few days....he's pure Cardiff City GOLD.

My advice is to follow SB's advice and KEEP CALM. It would be PLAIN STUPID to protest on saturday if there is any chance that the Malaysians may be deterred. We've come this far (talk about roller coaster!) so if you really do love Cardiff City get behind the team like never before and stick your demonstrations where the sun don't shine. BLOOOOOOOBIRDS !!!

I've just watched the press conference online.

My initial reaction is that I cannot believe the arrogance of the man. His response to Steve Tuckers straightforward questions was unbelievable. "I'm not going to get into the intricacies of how you pay back debt" as if methods of debt repayment are somehow beyond the comprehension of intelligent professionals.

Staggering.

Much of it was just flannel and a PR offensive to take the heat off. BUT and here is the BUT.

What is our viable alternative? Steve Borley has stated he doesn't want the job, because as Ridsdale rightly pointed out you cannot win and doubtless, Steve having been in that position before does not want to go there again and who can blame him? It's a thankless task. If I won £150m on the Euro lottery and bought the club I would at some point end up skint and be hounded out of town as some sort of a villain. Actually it would probably be before I went skint since the impossible task of keeping everyone happy in a big cup draw away from home can scientifically never be achieved.....

Steve Borley is right, we have to stick together, in a strange sort of way I am pleased that the boardroom appear to be united. If they were divided then the club would be on really shaky ground. At least with a unified board we stand a chance of coming out the other side in one piece. There is too much money invested by the likes of Paul Guy and Steve Borley for them to stand back and watch us go to the wall.

We have to move on from feeling fleeced, and quickly. Would we have bought tickets if they'd come out and said, we're skint, can you give us some cash now instead of next year? Probably most would have.

What is clear to me now is that this is the last chance saloon for Ridsdale. IF the revenue are not paid off and investors are not brought in then we can vent. Getting all shouty about things on Saturday is not going to solve anything, it is just going to inflame the situation and not contribute anything positive.

I would suggest some deep breaths. Lets focus on backing the team and manager however much we dislike what is going on at the moment. If we end up going up this year then all this is going to be a distant memory. If HMRC are not settled as promised THEN we will have cause to rant and rave because he will have proved that everything being said about him now is true.

It takes a man to rise above his aggressor and maintain dignity. And we need to show now that we are level headed individuals however raw we are feeling. Give them a final chance, they may be right. If the Malasians are still around and they can see a fan base united behind a club in times of adversity then that can only be a good message surely?

Divided we will fall. People always do. Those who unite will always pull through. Focus on the team, enjoy the game, lets dish out another 6-0 hammering on Saturday.

Re: RESPECT FOR BORLEY

Great post Robbie as if straight out of an epic movie!

I agree with you but also feel conflicted. I want the board to know that what is going on isn't acceptable and I want to voice my opinion after the match outside the ground. However, the question of 'what difference would it make?' springs to mind and I then wonder if it's just another victory Ridsdale has over me by sacrificing my own time to vent some anger against him. Will he be listening? No. Will he care? No.

I am going to turn up to that game on Saturday and give my all supporting the boys (I'll also be a nervous embarrassing wreck for 90 minutes) but you're right Robbie. Now is the time for us to show everyone what we're made of and remain united in these dark times.
