Best Footballing Team in the Championship are?

Sun Jan 31, 2010 10:28 am

Our 1st half attacking was good to watch but In the 2nd half Doncaster played brilliant football. They embarrassed us with their passing and movement.

Our 6 fingered neighbours are meant to be the best footballing team but i disagree with that. It is all very well passing the ball between defence and midfield and having 10 men behind the ball but you need to get into your opponents box. The fact that the jacks have only scored 22 or 23 goals this season proves this.

For me Doncaster we're the best footballing team i have seen this season.

Hard not to agree with that, in the second half i thought Donny were playing with twelve men on the pitch. At one stage i thought we would never get the ball.

We got lucky yesterday although we should have been well ahead before half time. Doncaster totally dominated the second half but for some unknown reason decided to step back in the last 5 minutes. It felt like they were happy to go away with a draw and this was their downfall. If they carried on the way they were playing thwy were the ones who would have got the winner. Fortunately for us they did not and paid the price. Makes a change to see us benefitting from such tactics.

One thing that stuck out to me which we need to sort out is our full right back position. Doncaster had to play an immaculate passing game down the left to break us there but on the right the door was left right open. As soon as our middle allowed them to get over to the right they went for it and caused us most problems resulting in the goal. As much as Adam Matthews is a bright future I think alot of us are seeing there is still some way to go before he becomes an accomplished player. I dont think he will be going this week.

Kenneddy wasnt very good today, big improvement when kev mac came on.

Matthews was shaky too, but i felt he was left a little exposed.
