WHERE WE ARE AT.

Sun Jan 31, 2010 2:59 pm

We are at the end of a hectic and extraordinary week for everyone involved with our club.

The week started very positive for the club with us in the draw for the 5th round of the club and getting the best possible draw in terms of a financial point of view, an away tie to holders Chelsea.

From the footballing side things got even better with a brilliant and unimaginable 6 nil drubbing of our rivals Bristol City but all was not well behind the scenes, as I had posted earlier that day, our 'new investor' Ben Steele had become uncontactable and later that day did not apear at the game withPeter Ridsdale as he had said he would previously. At this game our supporters were able to produce the Ridsdale out banners that had been banned at the previous 2 home games, the pressure was now mounting on Ridsdale to come clean.

Following the superb win, the club issued a statement on wednesday to explain its position on the season ticket issue and the fact that players had not been brought in during this transfer window. This statement inflamed already ill feeling towards the club over the issue of the tax issue and the current transfer embargo we believe we are under.

Thursday was most definately the defining moment of the week, where stories were abound of a press conference and Peter Ridsdale's imminent Resignation from Cardiff City Football Club. Members of the press, Cardiff City Trust Representatives, Club officials and some fans, including myself, believed that this was true but something changed that situation becoming a reality prior to 2pm that day.

Peter Ridsdale, did not resign, but faced the media to issue an 'apology' over the season ticket issue but did not explain where the money has gone and for that matter has still not explained, also it is not any clearer regarding the tax bill, he tells to wait until Feb 10th to find out.

Thursday evening, Steve Borley came on here to appeal for calm amid calls, on here also, for demonstrations and protests. I believe that Steve Borley is our best oppurtunity to solve our current crisis and believe that he is solving the issue of the tax bill, along with Paul Guy.

Steve Borley did not answer the questions posed to him on here regarding the tax and wether he supports Peter Ridsdale, and I believe this or any other msgboard would be the wrong place for him to publically distance himself from Peter Ridsdale. I think our fans did listen to Steve Borleys appeal and supported the team throughout the game yesterday and left all negative chants until after the game and outside of the ground. I was hesitiant, if I am honest, wether the demo should have gone ahead but after being there and seeing how it was handled I know beleive that it has not had a negative effect on the club and has in fact brought more sympathises to the cause, especially after the national exposure it receieved on Saturday night.

I believe that Steve Borley is our best hope of delivering investment to the club and believe that the Malaysians are still here and will invest and I give my full support to him at this time but I see no harm in peacful demonstrations like they were at the Doncaster game.

I dont believe that Peter Ridsdale has the backing of all the board but certainly has a very strong position on it with the backing of the majority. This is why I believe that Steve Borley and Paul Guy were not by Peter Ridsdales side during the press conference on Thursday. There is a power struggle taking place in the board room and I believe that there will be changes to the make up of the board during the next few weeks and expect things to progress towards a positive conclusion quickly after that. It will cost our club One Million pounds, alledgedly, to sack Peter Ridsdale unless it can be proved that Peter Ridsdale has been guilty of any wrongdoing. At this time we all believe that the club has not got the money to pay such a fee.

I will be patient with Steve Borley and hope that others will too as we all must remember that Steve Borley has NEVER taken a penny out of the club and is the next largest creditor the club has behind the Taxman, also more importantly Peter Ridsdale has never invested any of his own money into the club except the bonus' he has received from the club and continues to take a large salary, it is important we do not tarnish Steve Borley with the same brush as Peter Ridsdale, but I reiterate that I believe that the demonstrations should still take place but only after games.

With the end of the transfer window closing, we hope that no players are sold but with times as they are nothing is guaranteed.

What will the next 7 days bring ?

I do not believe that Ridsdale will last too much longer - too much pressure on him now.

Perhaps we may see a more transparently run business then.

Yes, in general I do. Though his recent responses on here have been something of a let down to us.

Hopefully, in the fullness of times we will discover that there was a very good reason for Mr Borley's very politically correct responses.

this is what I believe also, it must be a very difficult time for Steve knowing that he loves the club like us and cant tell us all the truth but I am certain we will all hear about it soon :ayatollah:

Piecing together various bits of information, was not the reason for The Rizla's change of heart last Thursday due to the most welcome cheque of £1.5m from our Malaysian friends? It arrived in the nick of time to get him partially off the hook.

On that subject of the Malaysians, perversely I'm feeling a lot happier, for had they washed their hands of CCFC then there would have been no need to bale us out financially. Surely, it's only because they are serious to eventually take-over the Club completely that this generous gesture could be explained. Not agreeing to Ridsdale's original asking price of 45p/share was always going to happen. The Rizla's second gamble, to demand he be employed in the same capacity (Chairman/CE) on the same salary (£350,000/yr) for a 3 year contract was also a step too far for the investors from the Far East, particularly after the tax situation was kept from them.

Though a number of choppy waters still remain to be sailed, overall I believe that the Met Office shipping forecast is is a little rosier in the long term, too. I see that this injection of finance is none other than a breathing space, a lull in the wind, which in the present circumstances, can only galvanise western minds to bring a conclusion to this hurricane. With the news that the parcel of land for sale, will almost certainly, via PMG end up in the hands of Dato Chan 'TG,' and look out for the first Malaysian hotel complex (with health club etc) to rise from the ashes, perhaps that's what Mr 'TG,' has been bargaining for all along.

To coin some words from a Leonard Cohen song: "Let's sing another song boys, This one has grown old and bitter." Whilst on the subject of lines from songs, Journey's, "Don't Stop Believing," could become our anthem to carry us forward into the Premier League:

"Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the ... [SP: dream] ... never ends
It goes on and on and on and on.

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight people."

If we don't stop believing, I believe we will come out of this stronger and in much better shape than we went into this finacial storm.

StT.

If this is played or sang at City games I will never attend another Cardiff game in my life! It's the most overplayed song in the history of ever and I hate it. :x

Has there been any confirmation that the Malaysians handed over £1.5m last week???? Seemed to have slipped by me that one.

So with £1.5m from the Malaysians and the better part of £1.0m from the land sale, the tax man should be paid off sooner rather than later and all is well then.

Great news.
