PLAYERS WAGES!

Sun Jan 31, 2010 4:45 pm

At one of Ridsdales meetings he stated that our break even figure was around 20,000 fans every home game, does this account for the players wages? Only wondering cos if not is that the next thing to happen, wages not being paid?

Our players wages are around £300,000 a week, thats without win, goalscoring bonuses etc. A crowd of 20,000 minus the 14,000 season ticket holders would not cover the wages.

Well to me a break even figure would be all bills paid, just goes to show how poor he runs the club, he's in a dream land

Is that a guess?

How long's it going to be before they are not paid. Seen on Ipswich website that they believe Chopra is better off going there as his wages are safer. Worrying times!

No its what i was told, our monthly wages are around £1.2million depending on the bonuses e.g goal scoring, win etc.

Ridsdale said we had budgetted for 18000. We get just over 20000.
Add in a Carling Cup runto Round 3 (35000 at Villa PArk plus 14000 combined at D and R and Rovers) plus FA Cup run to R5 and the various prize money/tv money we shouldbe rolling in it. However thanks to the greedy yorkshire tw@t we are up the creek with out a paddle.

Wasn't there only about 20,000 at Villa though? Nowhere near 35,000 anyway.

What we have to do is try and get the players on wages that are at, or near, what most clubs are paying in this league. To me, it shows that they are well run clubs. We have let wages spiral out of control. It won't be easy, if not impossible, to do this as we would have to re-negotiate contracts, but a wage ceiling of £8,000 a week is normal for our level. Some of our players are on double that

Something needs to be sorted as the money pot is drying out very quickly!

Last thing we need is players going elsewhere!!!

I'm almost certain Ridsdale would answer this question by saying 18,000 is the break even figure but the current situation is being caused by the stadium fit out which cost more than was budjeted for.

I have no idea if that's true, but if it is then I suppose 18,000 could be a break even figure if the are no additional one off costs like transfer fees, stadium bills etc.

Your right Nottage. 22500 at Villa Park
I reckon about half our squad earn more than 8k a week (Hudson, Chops, Bothroyd, Ross, McNaughton, Rae, Burke, Whitts and Marshall). Dont forget DJ earns 800k plus ridiculous board room salaries.

The wage thing will go on for along time though because of the various players contracts overlapping one another (if you get what I mean!!!). If we tell Joe that he will be offered £8k and no more and any more players coming in that they will get no more than that then maybe we can start to get back on an even footing. The players who have time left on their contracts will be told to accept no more than £8k or leave the club, which will mean a player exodus I should think. But will they find another club willing to give in to their current wage demands or will they just have to accept what we offer?
