I would have thought it was just a limited company for himself, many contractors/consultancy people would have a limited company into which they get paid

Thought you meant what the company was, not what he/they have done to not want it in the public domain.

Other than the highly publicised and documented tax issues I don't know!

Before Ridsdale went on the payroll as an employee of CCFC, he was employed as a "consultant." It was his company, W H Sports that received his consultancy fees. Why is Risdale so sensitive about it?

Suppose you were given some shares, say in a football club, as a bonus. If you kept them as an individual, you might be liable for a lot of income tax on that bonus 'cos let's suppose the shares were worth £500k (actually nearer £700k 'cos you got them cheaper than other shareholders). So to work around the tax liability, suppose you received those shares into the limited company you ran instead. Then later, suppose your company sold the shares back to you as an individual for say, £20k and then you closed the company down owing around £370k to the taxman. Of course, this is all a hypothetical example of what you could do but if you did do all that, it would be a bit naughty wouldn't it?

that supposition would lead to an investigation by the Revenue and DTI, the outcome of which would not be very nice for that supposed person i.e banning from directorships of companies, possible arrest, criminal proceedings and time in the slammer, all very hypotheticaL though.
