jack don't pay their rent

Wed Feb 03, 2010 6:25 pm

i don't know if it's been posted before, but i am sick to death of the jacks gloating at our financial troubles and bragging how well their club is run, and it turns out that they ain't paid a penny's rent in the 5 years they have been in their council owned stadium the dirty stinking freeloaders they have denied the swansea public of millions of pounds in revenue between themselves and the opspreys. typical gypo's, and the say the cardiff council are doing us favours with rate payers money

No wonder their finances are in better shape.

We've paid £20m+ for our stadium, they've paid f-all and arent even paying their rent.

Apparently they still owe money from the Vetch !

Surely all that article points out is what a good deal the 2 clubs have negotiated?

They both pay a peppercorn rent and are only obliged to pay anything further if SSMC makes a profit, which it doesn't.

Doesn't appear from that they are "behind" with any rent payment for the stadium at all :?:

When the stadium was first built it was supposed to be a proportion of gate income. I dont know what the deal is now. But the SSMC is making a loss and the clubs are contracted to make that up, which they havent.

I think its fair to say the Jacks failure to pay rent has now techically rendered them as Squatters rather than Tennants of the Liberty Stadium..... :D

Here you go... make sense of this

Swansea (Liberty Stadium): Management arrangements
The stadium build was financed principally through land receipts from an out of town retail park development – together with a small
amount of Sports Lottery Funding. The stadium is owned by the City and County of Swansea.
The stadium is operated by a commercial operator (‘FMC’), which is overseen by a stadium management company. The Council,
the Football Club and the Rugby Club each have two Directors on the Board of the stadium management company. The Council
holds a ‘golden share’ on certain issues. This relates to a long list of detailed points, but covers issues such as appointing a Chief
Executive, the ability to hold events, and the treatment of the stadium sinking fund. Income is apportioned via a complex formula,
which holds some relationship with attendances. The Council is not under that arrangement obliged to financially support the
stadium on a revenue basis, nor do they generate significant annual income as a result.

Love the idea of SCFC and a 'Sinking Fund' Won't be long before the Gypos start dipping into that one
