because theyve been one of the best sides in the world for a good time, and most seasons can at least give england and all a decent game

when wales almost qualified for the euros they were filling the millenium stadium and getting all the press coverage, just the way it goes

It's a self perpetuated myth that the more brain dead people of this nation tend to subscribe to.

Those of us who can see the fallacy of thinking there's a virtue in being one of the "best in the world" when A.) We're certainly not, and B.) only 6 countries give a shit, are more concerned with the world's second most popular sport ie. football.

Frankly, I'd rather an atmosphere like the one at CCS against Scotland where the Scots were singing their hearts out, we were singing our hearts out and we slaughtered them on the pitch, rather than one like Wales v England when we lost 1-0 and our lot were silent all day, it's pathetic in the MillStad with all the plastics, they should keep to their televisions and we'll keep singing our hearts out for our country.

Unfortunately we have the media ramming Wales & the 6 nations down our throat, anyone have Real radio on last week? When my boy was playing rugby i used to take him to the 6 nations games at the Millenium , the crowd seemed to be made up of a large percentage who were there for the piss up, the final straw being with 4 women standing in front of us with pints in their hands looking for the cameras so they could get their mugs on the big screen, they did'nt even face the pitch. crap atmosphere made up by plastics.

regional rugby attendances are poor. This I believe is that alot more people watch their local club rugby side than the local football team.

I think Wales need a new manager not because of toshs performance but simply to get the welsh public excited. A similar effect to sparky. The only person I can see dong this is Giggs. Putting in brian Flynn wud do the opposite.

Iagree how many players have retired early under tosh? I respect tosh as a player but his managerial career has always been topsy turvy.

To take over...Hmmmmmmn cant see giggsy doing it maybe gary speed would?

Have you seen Sheffield United play?

That's where Speed is coaching. He'd do nothing for the creativity of our team. Maybe getting him in to help out the defence would work but not as overall manager.

No not really BlackSwan.

I would imagine guys like yourself look upon him as a legend because he took you to the top. He did so at an expense hence why you fell as quick as your climb. Its only recently you have recovered from that through 2 admins.

You know I hear alot of you Jacks going on about us spending over our means to get where we are. Yet thats exactly what Tosh did for you. Even more so Tosh did not do it for Swansea but for his own revenge against the board of CCFC in the 80s. Ok he gave you 2 years at the top but that was followed by 20 years in the dungeoans.

Besides since proving his point and leaving the peninsula he has not achieved much. OK he got to Real Madrid but they soon realised he was not up to the top flight and was kicked out. I thought we would have learnt our lesson when he first managed the national team but sadly we have not.

Dont rate the guy and his management belongs to the 80s.

Bakedalasker, I've got to agree with you on everything but Toshack not achieving much after leaving the wretch. He's held in very high regard in Spain and was the first manager to be re-appointed as Real Madrid boss. Didn't he also win titles and silverware there? And also in Turkey? His football cv is pretty impressive

He came to the Swans after 10yrs at Liverpool. That's some grudge to be holding against the Cardiff board lol. It's more likely he saw us a stepping stone to bigger and better things and not to get back at your board, as you put it. :?

He'd sat and passed his coaching badges as a teenager so knew his future lay in management.I find it laughable your suggesting he took the job to get back at you :D

Anyway, what he achieved at Swansea was nothing short of miraculous and what went on with us 4 yrs later financially had no connection in my opinion, and as the old saying goes ''Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all'

I notice you failed to mention his stint at Sociedad too where he turned another struggling side into a major force in La Liga, and where he's heralded as a god in San Sebastian, and he was also the only man before Capello to manage Real Madrid twice,so your point that 'he wasn't up to it in the top flight, and was kicked out',doesn't really stand up.

However i do understand why your so anti-Tosh,what with his achievments with Swansea and apparent failings with Wales,it doesn't surprise me :ayatollah:
