Correct me if I am wrong...

...but was not the winding up order originally relating to £1.2m with the remaining £1.5m to follow? If we have paid the £1.2m now (as Annis said) then we are now in position to stay off the execution. When the land deal is done we will be in a position to pay more. Not saying the world is a brightly shining thing but for now I think we are safe.

The other thing in this is that Portsmouth's debt is VAT. Anyone in business knows that you do not piss of the VAT man as he is the most aggressive party there is when it comes to collecting debt. And if they are behind on VAT, PAYE is to follow and that might explain why the HMRC have run out of patience with them.

The v.a.t. man and the PAYE/NI man are one and the same thing , and have been for several years now (as HM Revenue and Customs).

The first winding-up petition issued in Nov was for £1.2m. The 2nd one was for the full £2.7m due to the end of Dec.

I wouldn't even expect the land sale to cover the costs. Remember, our season ticket sales were close to £3m so how on earth a quickfire land sale will have any bigger impact on the debts is beyond me?

Is the Embargo still in place, or can we get loanees in now?
