Is that why Derby want to sell any member of their squad to raise £8 million?

There is a new era about to commence in football.
Players are going to have to accept that the golden days are over and that they are going to have to face massive cuts in their pay. What they are earning now is both unwarranted and unsustainable.
Clubs who continue to spend up to 90% of their income on players wages will not survive.
The sharks, like our own Mr Ridsdale, will be thrown out of the game. This is now a business that needs to be run on a profitable and sound financial footing, this needs to be done in order that the clubs that all football supporters love, survive.
We have had a massive recession in the real world and have all had to make hard decisions in difficult times. Football must realise that it is not immune to this and needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
You might still get the odd Sheikh or Oligarch who will subsidise some clubs, but the rest need to be run prudently if they are to survive. It is obvious that the tax people's stance to football clubs and their debts has hardened recently.

In fairness, that's not Cloughie's fault, he's only bought non-league players and Motherwell rejects.
