Footballs Next Star: At CCS

Thu Feb 11, 2010 12:41 pm

When I was protesting on Tuesday I over heard a group of boys saying look there's the boy who won Footballs Next Star on Sky1.

And they seemed very confident that it was him, they even called his name and he looked over.

I can't remember the name but I think it was that Irish one by the quick look I had.

Why would he be at our stadium though?

I did read somewhere the other day that the academy had taken on a lad from the show. I don't think he was the winner though, but one of the finalists?

I get the feeling Ireland is an untapped resource after watching it early on.

Yeah he was the one who got eliminated after the 2nd week. Redknapp compared him to a young Rio Ferdinand! lol

In all honesty the majority of them cant be that good as surely they would have been snapped up by a club already??

This was all finished by beginning of November so the winner would have known for a while now

I get the feeling Jason Byrne quickly dismissed that theory when he joined us! :p

Nah, in all truth I play parks football and 5 a side against some quality players. I've also played against semi pros who are worse. So many players carry on a career living off past form that I believe there are loads of players between the ages of 16 and 21 who are free agents who are just as good, if not better than current youth prospects.
