Ridsdale Up for the Fight, Why Aren't We?

Wed Feb 17, 2010 1:10 pm

First of all, really disappointed with the show, an absolute whitewash. What did come across, though, was that Ridsdale is clearly fighting tooth and nail whilst all we do as fans is occassionally pontificate but do nothing. This is the real crying shame for me and why I am so disillusioned to the point of apathy; that Ridsdale is showing more backbone and tenacity than we are and have done by a country mile. I despise Ridsdale with a passion for what he has done and is doing, but given we have allowed him to do so, good luck to him, at least he is showing some balls unlike us.

Despite the insistance of many respected posters that the Malaysians will invest, I grow ever convinced they and no-one else will touch us with a barge pole. Why would anyone want to buy a club for £10-15m simply to service a debt of what will be nigh on £50m within 12-18 months, mass player sales aside? The only option is for the club to be sold for a £1, but clearly those in control wouldn't do that. The other options I see are a battle to get to the summer and a mass exodus of players as the best option. The other and more likely option is administration. I fear the meeting next week will be another whitewash with Ridsdale simply given an opportunity to do demonstrate is exceptional speaking talents without saying anything, if you catch my drift, as he always does. Questions will be asked, whether they will be answered as we wish, quite another. I fear a vote of no confidence will simply mean the much heralded Borley (and Guy) will fall in line with Ridsdale and pledge his support and that nothing whatsoever will come of this meeting at all. I hope to be proven wrong. I also find the championing of Borley as some kind of "Fans Champion" uttely ridiculous given he is a major shareholder and board member who has allowed this to happen. I find it equally disturbing that we should be thankful that Mr Guy seems to be taking an active interest in the club for the first time since he took over. There is no doubt it is Ridsdale who has steered this ship into troubled waters, but there is no doubt whatsoever that the rest of the crew have done nothing to alter its course, indeed they have merely ensured he has gone full steam ahead regardless of the consequences.

Ridsdale has shown he is going nowhere, we have proven we aren't prepared to do anything about it, the consequences of our inaction I fear will be vast. No good complaining after the event guys, we had the chance to do something about it, but we didn't.

He says he's fighting tooth and nail. He says a lot of things though, very, very little of which I actually believe

Running him out now will not help us and probably seal administration. Most are probably waiting until the end of the season. I just want to know more about the situation before I commit to a point of view to be honest.
