New formation for us?

I thought this might be interesting, though Dave Jones doesn't ever change his formation I'd love to see this. It might sort out our defence problem with Blake coming back and helping Gerrard or Gyepes who are, at the moment, absolutely useless.

McCormack, in my opinion would make a terrific Centre Forward just behind Chopra and Bothroyd making some thunder bolt shots and setting them both up. At present form, however, Feeney deserves to step in instead of Chopra because Chopra is just walking around aimlessly hoping for an easy chance.

What do you think?

To be honest its just a copy of the England "Diamond" formation

I used to use the diamond formation on Football Manager a few seasons ago but found instead of having a DM it works better to move them forward and have them as a CM.

So it would be a 4-3-1-2 formation. I'd then choose...

GK: Marshall
DR: Matthews
DL: McNaughton
DC: Gyepes
DC: Gerrard
MR: Burke
ML: Whittingham
MC: Blake/ Taiwo
AM: Bothroyd
FC: McCormack
FC: Chopra

Imagine the service Bothroyd could get McCormack and Chopra from the air and the service Burke and Whittingham could give to Bothroyd as he ventures into the box with them putting the crosses in. It presents both an aerial and ground threat. Yes, our central midfield is a bit weak but nothing more than normal, plus it would give us more attacking options. I do believe attack is our best form of defence.

At first sight your formation looks a daft idea but the more you think about it the more the idea grows on you..
