Business men

Cardiff City football club, like most other football clubs, is a business run by businessmen.

These businessmen run their businesses, in this context, Cardiff City Football Club, to make as much profit as possible.

There is no love for the club or the product, the only thing that drives the likes of Paul Guy is profit and profit alone. Once they have extracted maximum profit from the business they will drop it and move on to the next project. They have invested iin the football club in order that they could bring the highly profitable retail park forward. The rental income from the like of Asda, M&S and next and the others make this an extremely profitable operation.

No doubt when the retail park is fully let they will then sell this property portfolio on the an investor such as a pension fund, making themselves millions of pounds more profit.

They will no doubt acquire this land parcel very cheaply and sell it in the future when the market returns at a very large profit to PMG.

Steve Borley is no different. He is firstly a businessman and secondly and far behind a supporter of Cardiff City. You can bet that when the likes of Borley, Guy and Ridsdale eventually do leave our club, having bled it dry, none of them will be amongst the creditors who will have to rely on the administrator.

Paul Guy, like all the others, is an utterly ruthless businessman who has used the club for personal profit. He will be gone soon, as will Borely and Ridsdale because there will be nothing else left in the club of interest for them to profit on.

What we are left with then will probably be beyond repair. It will take many, many years for the club to re-establish itself. The club, does need to learn lessons from this debacle, as a football club is a business like no other business and needs to be run by people who love the club and its people, who do not seek personal profit from the business.

Administartion is the only option left for the club now, but unfortunately, the decision of when to put the club into administration will be taken by those people who will do so when the time is right and best for them, not for the club. This will be during summer of 2010, when the final assets of the club will be disposed of, that is when any player at the club that has a value has been sold, and the profit from these sales goes directly into the bank accounts of these people and not back to the club.

It is a very sad day indeed.

While I agree with your sentiments - do we have any idea if there is enough money to get us through to the summer of 2010?

If we go into Admn in the summer, I take it we would start off next season minus 10 points.......

Guy etc will ensure that there is sufficient to, just, get us through to the end of the season, when the transfer window opens, so all the assets can be sold.

Any one with the best interests of the club at heart would enter into administration now - even with a 10 point deduction, we should be safe. But to do so in the summer will mean -10 for the start of next season and impossible to think of promotion with a -10 point start and a non existent playing squad.

Still, thats business for them.

Thats what I was thinking, now is the time to go into Admin, have someone buy the club and go again next year, if we go in the summer it could be fatal..............

And do you think messers Guy, Hall, Borely, Flitcroft and Ridsdal give a flying one about that?
