This £2.3 million tax paid

Wed Feb 24, 2010 3:25 pm

would I be correct in saying that £1 million is in respect of the historical debt owed to HMRC i.e part of the £2.7 million owed prior to November and the remaining £1.3 million would be for current tax i.e tax owed from November 09 onwards? So in effect once we pay the other £1.7 million from the winding up order we are clear with the taxman. It's just all the other creditors that have to be cleared + any further tax between now and the end of the season + Wages to the end of the season + the day to day running of the club? from what income are we going to pay all this?   Then of course theres the debt to Langstone, PMG, Borley and several other loanees    everything is rosy in the garden

I think it's something like that. Although we paid £xm we obviously had to pay more between now and November. Despite the published figure being £2.7m that was probably only the unpaid bill, whereas we may well have paid the more recent bill.

What I don't understand is how to other football clubs pay? It sounds bad from where we are, but how are other clubs in such different situations? Most would have sold season tickets at the start of the season, and may well have lower attendances so they won't get a huge gate receipt, they all have to pay wages and tax.

I know we've borrowed against future income, but what income does a well run football club use to pay these? You have the TV money and things like that, but gate receipts don't really add up to a huge amount.

My understanding is we owed £1.2m up until October and the rest £1.4m was from upaid tax on November, December and January plus fines.

Apparently £2.3m of season ticket money has gone to the taxman and at a guess the £300,000 from TG made up the rest to £2.6m

More likely we have to pay the current tax debt monthly rather than quarterly now. Any late payment will certainly lead to another winding up order. More to the point from what income are we going to pay for the day to day running of the club (Wages, overheads, Peters lunch and fuel bills etc etc   ) from now on whilst still continuing to clear the long term debt owed to creditors, many of whom it seems are allegedly already issuing or considering issuing winding up orders on the club.

so what about the other £1.6 million still outstanding from the last winding up order?
