Ridsdale at the EGM re:Barnsley

Stated that when he left them they were in profit and are now approx. £10m in debt. I emailed a Barnsley-supporting mate & this is his reply:

In December 2004....

We were within minutes of re entering Administration, just 12 months after exiting it. Ridsdale had already exceeded the budget for the entire 2004/05 season. Thankfully, Patrick Cryne pumped £1M of his own money into the club to stave off the problem. However, he insisted that Ridsdale resign immediately. This he did (along with his second in command who's name escapes me). Both of them were also being paid a huge salary, out of all proportion for a third tier club. Gordon Shepherd took over (without drawing a salary from the club) and through his stewardship we came through all the problems left us by Ridsdale. When he left due to ill health in 2008, we were operating at a profit although this was also helped by Cryne writing off all the loans he'd made to the club. Barnsley's financial success has been down to the stewardship of Gordon Shepherd & Patrick Cryne and absolutely nothing with Peter Ridsdale. Had Ridsdale continued as chairman, I dread to think where we'd be now.
For him to claim what his has about Barnsley FC is a downright lie and he knows it. How on earth he makes those claims when the financial accounts for 2008/09 haven't been released yet proves it. If he were to make those claims in public, I think messrs Shepherd & Cryne would be VERY interested.

i was told by my m8s at Barnsley that there was 1.5 million unaccounted for, and Ridsdale was on 250,000 a year there for a club the size of Barnsley is a hell of a lot of money! The would have had the recievers in if Patrick Cryne had'nt had a EGM with the shareholders and got rid of the Riddler!!!!

Another thing is that at the EGM the directors and shareholders wanted answers where the money was going? Ridsdale never turned up and disappered for two weeks and left the club inbetween! I think Ridsdale is still were he is now at the City because a number of other people on the board are lining their own pockets and not putting the club first not like the directors of at Barnsley!!!!!

He didn't "disappear for two weeks".

He was staying with Ben Steele.
