I would agree Gerrard seems the natural choice, same as Roger Johnson was but he didn't get it either.

Easy one this, it's got to be Kevin McNaughton, one of the longest serving players, would lead by example and he's a defender. I think a captain should be at the back or a defensive midfielder with a few exeptions Wayne rooney being one of them. But having said this I do believe there should be 11 captains on the pitch each and everyone there ready to lead by example to give each other a bollocking when they're not at there best but also encourage, sadly DJ doesn't seem to have collected many players of this calibre!

My personal view of the Jay captaincy is that DJ is playing a psychological game with him making him captain would give him that responsibility to go the extra mile, injured - tuff your captain show the team how to do it, not having a good game - tough show the team how you can pick yourself up. it can also have the affect of making a lazy player work harder in a similar way that it calmed Jason Perry down a little when he became captain! But having said this I don't think Jay has that in his personality just ask the 100 clubs that he has previously played for- has an amazing talent but he's a lazy b*stard!

for his effort and battling i would say kevin mcnaughton but i dont see him as a talker but thinking a little differently maybe whitts would do well as a captain

the amazing thing here is that we signed three players in the summer who were captains of their respective clubs in hudson gerrad and quinn yet jay is made captain.

the man management skills at the club are non existant

I dont think we have a leader, maybe the exception of McNaughton but the rest of them are full of shit.

The only captain in our team is out injured - McPhail.

Sadly, all the players in the squad apart from McPhail, Hudson & Ledley are NOT leaders by any standards.

Mcnaughton for me.Only him & Burke are putting in a shift at the moment,as for the rest they've all been useless. Bothroyd could be gracing the premiership but he's a naturally lazy b*stard who rarely breaks into a sweat.

to say jay looked unintrested yesturday would be to mild. he never once looked like he wanted the ball, closed players down etc. he wasnt the only one, but as skipper he should be setting the righ example.

Annis i think discussing Jay's credibility as captain is the least of our problems at the moment. I think the guy is different class personally but probably captain would be better suited to someone else.

Mcphail if back next week would be my call because he does have an influence over the tempo of the game etc.

My main worry which I will say until I am blue in the face is why is that wanker Rae still in the side week in week out? Darcy and Taiwo couldn't do any worse than that f*cking Scottish parks player!!!!
