Sun Feb 28, 2010 12:43 pm

My kids got hold of an old cd of mine that has over 200 photos of mine from like aged 17 -22 when i did all the lads holidays, thing is theyve scratched it and now the computer wont even recognise anything on the cd, anyone know of anyway of trying to repair the cd or getting the photos off it? the cd isnt snapped just scratched.

If it's just scratched, I use SkipDr / Skip Doctor, whatever it's called.

Basically, just a hand grinder type thing using chemicals to remove the top layer to remove the scratches.

Should be ok assuming the scratches are only surface ones - if they are pretty deep as in all the way down, chances are won't be fixable.

you can sometimes repair the deep scratches with toothpaste, polish the surface with it.
