Our Budgetting for this season

Sun Feb 28, 2010 3:51 pm

Liesdale said we had budgetted for 18000 per game.

Since the start of the season we have been on TV in 3 league games which brings in extra cash. We have also had a run to the 3rd round of the Carling Cup and in the 3 games we played about 40000 watched bringing the club 45% of the income (40,000 x £15=600k. 45% of that is 270k). We had a good FA Cup run which brought in at least 150k in prize money plus 250k in TV income plus radio broadcasting. Add in gate receipts from about 65000 fans-well over 500k.

We have also received 250k from SBOBET plus our stadium has been used for a Wales game.

At least a million pounds extra has been raised that could not be budgetted for.

Our crowds are above 20,000 and we have received close on 3 mill from ST sales and 500k from the Malaysians.

Yet we cannot pay bills.

Ridsdale you are a crook. Get out of our club.

I suspect the sale of MCCormack for 4 mill and Ledley for 5 mill might have enabled him to stick to the aforementioned budget

The explanation given at the EGM to why we have such a cashflow problems was an overspend on fitting out the new stadium.

However, that opens up more questions. Compass were reported to have advanced us £5m to fit out the kitchen areas yet we still overspent by £7m and owe Food Shine £700,000.

How does fitting out the kitchen/corporate areas cost nearly £13m and why wasn't this foreseen?

You need to be careful how Ridsdale words things guys. There is a world of difference between "budgeting" for and an actual break even figure. As far as I know, Ridsdale has never said that 18k was a break even figure, merely what he has "budgeted" for. In previous seasons our operating losses have been roughly £5-8m round figures. Those losses were budgeted for. For us to break even, we would need to fill out a stadium nigh on the size of St James Park at 50k+. You should know I'm not sticking up for him by now guys, just pointing out how he puts a spin on such things. We still make a loss on 20k a week, what dear old Peter didn't budget for was not selling at least one more high profile player, inducing external investment, and somehow failing to scoop the euromillions. As it stands, the latter is probably his best plan.
