FAO: The Lone Gunman

TLG can I ask what your personal opinion (putting the Trust aside) is with regard to the demo planned for Saturday?

We know quite a few Trust members will be on the march and I understand the reasons Corky put forward for them (The Trust) not being down as organisors. However would like your personal view on it.

Also if you have spoken to various media as you mentioned youve been asked about the demo last week can you let us know what you've gone on record as saying?

He's already said he doesn't see it achieving anything, not sure why you're asking him again?

I suspect he's other reasons for not actively supporting it as much as other Trust officials, but that's his perogative.

It would be interesting to see the results of a ballot of Trust members, Supporters Club members though.

As a trust member myself I thought his conduct on here was very poor with the use of bad language etc.. I can understand how some members would lose faith if people like TLG carry on in an unappropriate manner.

I havent actually read a post where he gives his view, maybe i missed it and thats why I've asked the question.

Like i say just asking the question and would be interested if he has given said view to the media he has spoken to.

Can't be arsed finding the link, but he definitely said he felt the demo wouldn't achieve anything, or words to that effect.

The reason given was something along the lines that the March had no 'aim' and as such would achieve nothing.

I joined the Trust and attended the last meeting in reaction to current affairs at the club, I felt I just had to do something to help. Although I feel the Trust has some great people on board, (Corky, Keith etc) I have been disappointed with the lack of action and direction from the Trust on this issue. I feel that Annis will achieve far more in direct action and mass publicity than the Trust ever will with their policy of polite letters and questions (that the club refuse to answer anyway). The only thing Risdale is interested in is his cash and reputation. I do still respect and support the Trust, I just wish they would move things up a gear.

Hiya, it's got to be up to the members.

The Trust leaders answer to the Trust members. If members want them to organise a march, then they have the duty to do so, and follow the legal route required in doing so. If members don't want them to or are apathetic, then trust cannot support a march.

If the approach has been rejected despite members overwhelmingly wanting a march or members haven't been consulted on the issue, that's a different story.

I don't think the Trust Board have to consult the membership over every decision they make. If a member approaches them with a suggestion then that is put to the Trust Board and they vote on it.

It would seem to me that the Trust Board could easily hold a vote on whether to back the aims of the demo tonight and then release a press statement tomorrow.

It would be ideal timing and would crank the pressure up.

Hmm, well, that leads the way to unilateral decision made by the Trust board.

The fact remains, there have been numerous demonstrations. Given those are a pretty big thing in terms of the national media attention, given numerous Trust officers ( with the exception of one who talks to spiders ) have personally backed it, I'd have thought the pro active approach would have been to ballot and get it fully organised.

I was just thinking ( I'm a member of the Trust )what Id like to say in an e mail to the Trust regarding the situation with PR etc.

Then something very strange came to me........

Do you remember the scene from the film "The Silence of the lambs?"

Hannibal Lecter posts a coded message via a newspaper ad. to "wild Bill?"

It gave the following message........... Kill them all.....Kill them all!

Just thought id share that with you. ;-)
