Just wondering how many of my fellow Bluebirds would be willing to participate in the following plan (hypothetically speaking for now)
We ask the Trust/Supporters Club/Annis/Rhooster Direct Actions Inc to approach the club on our behalf and ask them to sell the club to us the 'fans' on the following terms.
We organise at least 10,000 fans willing to pay £20.00 p/m into a fund which would raise £2.4m per year to specifically buy the club.
At a £40m price tag (including debt) would take 10 years to complete, but it would mean that the club was free of all commitments to repay debt and all normal revenues from other sources would go directly on the team.
Of course if we did get promotion to the PL that debt could be repaid more quickly. Obviously there would be anomalies like Ridsdale would get paid for his shares, but that has to be the lesser evil than seeing the club go to the wall?
Would you do it to save Cardiff City FC?

I dont think those at the top of the clubs food chain would go for a sale over 10 years.

Totally agree......this is why I have always said the TRUST is the future....... all fans join!
Of course ......PR and Co might consider it once they have sold all of the players.
Great post.

I'd go along with that as long as the £20.00 per month is deductible against my tax

To give some sense of proportion on members-based ownsership, the Benfica annual membership costs €25 to join plus an annual subscription currently running at €156 (local resident) or €100 (non-local). All season ticket holders are members at additional cost and the total membership is currently over 3x the capacity of the Club's stadium. Typical members' club memberships run at 2x stadium capacity.
If we could achieve just 1.5 x stadium capacity in 5 years, we would be talking about c.40,000 members:
First year joining fees: €1,000,000
26,000 x €156 = €4m annually
14,000 x €100 = €1.4m annually
Total Annual Income = €5.4m = c.£5m annually
If the Portuguese can organise this, why can't we?
The key issue is that membership takes time to build. However, to give an idea of what can be achieved, between 2004 and 2009, Benfica took their membership numbers from c.95,000 (under 1.5 stadium capacity) to over 200,000 as part of a well-organised membership-building campaign. New targets for 250,000 and 300,000 have now been set.
Another key feature is that there are also corporate members which regard their involvement as prestigious. These major contributors do not have special voting rights, but treat their higher contributions as something of a matter of honour and/or obtain marketing benefits.
We could learn much from Benfica and other members-owned clubs.
