The rent is 600-650k. For 18 designated match days. Adding in additional costs, ie stewarding, maintenance costs etc, it's probably pushing that figure towards the 850-900k mark.
Blues chose not to use a DMD for the Australia game - claiming they'd sell the ground out, we were able to charge high rent for that one off game. Factor in abysmal attendance, high rent and the fee to the Aussie board to play the game... I'd highly doubt they made anything of note off that lucrative game.

Thought the figures didnt look right. The Blues would be better off moving back to their old ground with poor crowds. They have lost a lot of support moving to the CCS. They may have budgeted for larger crowds, thinking their fans would have been impressed with the CCS, but this hasnt been the case.

Hmm, Blues didn't move for such reasons.
Let's just say Peter Thomas hasn';t invested in the Blues in years. Let's just say he's owed money, millions, by Cardiff RFC Ltd. Let's just say he's getting old now, 70, isn't it? Would like that money before he pegs it.
Let's just say there's a nice piece of prime land right next to the MS - don't know who plays there tho. Wouldn't it be nice for Thomas for a scenario to occur where the Arms Park has a single team playing there, with crowds of 1k, which are unsustainable? And concrete cancer be found.... might be good for the future to sell that prime land, eh? If only there was a council who wouldn't mind buying it - oh, happy! PT could get his money back by forcing the sale of land he doesn't actually own, WRU could finish their stadium, everyone's a winner! Ok, Cardiff RFC Ltd make money through their car park, but wouldn't it be a blow if the council had any plans to make the street a one way street, minimising custom...

The ruggah lot pay City £65,000 per game x 18 games per season = £1,170,000
Over the 20 year lease that works out at £23,400,000

MalagaCF wrote:Yes agree with you. Thats what is happening. They are going to extend the Millenium Stadium at the one end, but that land was given away many years ago in his will and the person stated that it can only be used for a sports ground or stadium, so would find it hard for the council to have a say really. But no doubt they will find a way around it for money!!!!

Ah, yes, forgot that - Berman believes there will be regular - not single games - but regular CL finals played there. going to be his legacy to Cardiff, see.
It'll be interesting - Thomas engineering a situation where land is sold that he doesn't own to get paid his money back, help WRU oh and lead to statues of Berman on every street corner.

It would make my life to see a Champions League final in Cardiff.
I still don't think it'll happen though, the Yawnion crowd will be bricking themselves at the publicity it would bring to "Wendyball" or whatever they call our beautiful game.
