Were they lead to believe that the money would go directly to CCFC to pay HMRC or did they know it was going to reduce the debt owed to PMG/SB. Wasn't it quoted in the press and on TV that the land sale money would be used to pay HMRC. Were HMRC told that they would be paid once the land sale had been completed.

jam, could I just say how impressed i was by those eyes in the back of your head yesterday. i was just behind you at the start of the march and could feel those yes following me everywhere?
Top marks to the bloke in the Canton who had painted his face green with black question marks over it a la The Riddler from Batman.
Just two of the many moments yesterday which made me smile.
As for the council, my guess is they were probably misled like the rest of us.

Council should be OK.
WAG will be shitting themselves though, come the election, come the sense. Bye bye WAG.
The lefty's will convince the prols though, Brown and Ridsdale will still be causing chaos and carnage whilst the workers pay. Sad but true.
The lefty's don't like it when the people show their true feelings do they?
Time to go, just download a video tab of Purple Haze so ten mins practise then its old willy's bed time.

The land belonged to the club and basically it could do whatever it wanted with it's asset once the shareholders had approved. I think the council's only concern is getting the House of Sport built.
If the club had defaulted on that project it could have led to rammifications over the hotel plot and even stadium ownership, but once Borley agreed to take the project on their concerns were satisfied.

I understand the club had only leased the land hence why they needed Council permition to sell it.

The Retail Park/Stadium land was gifted from the council to the club in 2007. Part of that deal was the club's promise to build a community centre called the House of Sport.
Techically the Council could have reclaimed the Hotel and HoS plots of land if the club hadn't built the HoS by this December under breach of contract. They may also have had a claim on the stadium itself.
So the club needed to seek the Council's approval before they sold those plots of land because of the above. Borley's promise to build HoS was enough for them to wave any concerns they had.

The council was entitled to a %age of the sale price of the land from the club (700,000) plus the club have historical debt of 50,000. These amounts have been deferred for 5 yrs b4 payments have to be paid, unless we get promotion when the full amount will be due. Heard that one b4 lol
