and liked his comments about the "real world" where you can get done for that tackle on a sunday league pitch.

I think it echoed the sentiments of a lot of fans up and down the country.

And another article I liked on the Ramsey tackle was by Andy Dunn in the NOTW...

"A pal of mine is prone to malapropisms and refers to something called a dead herring.

And there is no deader herring than the debate over intent when it comes to challenges such as the one that left only a sock to stop fragments of Aaron Ramsey's bones being scattered all over the five towns of the Potteries.

Ryan Shawcross has not got a malicious nerve in his body.

Generally, the people spouting this platitude don't know him but neither do I. So there is no discussion to be had about the individual.

However, when I speed through a 30mph zone at 50mph, it's not because I'm consumed with malicious intent, it's because I want to get home to watch Masterchef.

But if I knock someone over, the consequences are dire. Intent is not the issue here.

Footballers are faster, stronger, more muscular than ever before. Hence, more dangerous. They need to realise this.

Recklesness is as reprehensible as malicious intent."

Football cost me too much money in fines. In one season I got sent off in two games against the same club within 30 seconds of kick-off, and then 30 seconds after the end of the game in the second. I didn't have the best disciplinary record.

Plus, it also accounted for a broken ankle, and broken feet many times. I had metatarsal breaks before David Beckham made them famous!!
