Should / Could the supporters club cancel the POY dinner?

Please, if any opinion do not have a pop at anyone, it's not about that, it's a simple question.

Should fans be laughing and joking with players / management at this time, could it get out of hand?.

And just to be clear, I'm not a member of the supporters club but have attended a number of these functions.
