As our current strike force seems intent on bending their elbows, driving expensive cars and missing chances that my grandmother would have steered in to the net while sipping her tea, it seems to me that we need to find out quickly if there is anyone on our depleted squad who might discover hidden talents if he was played up front.
Remember how Leo used to upset defences by blundering around and bruising every one in sight. Can you think of anyone on our books who might be moved forward in order to increase our fire power and our general threat in front of goal?
I recall the heavily built full back "Buller" Lever being moved up and scoring on at least one occasion but the best example was probably Wilf Grant who was bought as a right winger. He performed reasonably out on the wing until a sudden injury forced the manager to move Wilf up to the strikers position. From that point on he became the coolest finisher in front of goal that I have ever seen. I can't say that I recall any others but I hope you can. We must find some inspiration from somewhere if only to give our hard pressed supporters a reason to look to a future that is not entirely obscured by dark clouds.
