My view on the game today

Sat Mar 13, 2010 9:06 pm

I thought we looked much improved from previous games.Looked to have more shape back with mcphail in the centre and would even give him MOM for us,kept things flowing and was able to put his foot on the ball and slow things down when needed.First half we started well had a few openings but Jay and Rossco never really looked like troubling leicester's defence.Only a 30 yard screamer from kennedey came close.They had a spell of pressure where we looked fragile at the back and thats where they got their goal.Second half we dominated possesion but again lacked that killer edge to break their defence.jay and ross had a few tame efforts before whittingham nearly got us a deserved point with an effort heading for the top corner before their keeper got fingertips too keeping it out.To be honest looking at the teams below us i still think we have enough to get into the top six we still have to play leister and swansea at home which will be crucial.With the heart of our team possibly back fit next month theres still alot to play for! :ayatollah:

We were certainly much improved compared to Tuesday and I agree with what you say about McPhail - he held things together in midfield and looked solid. My main gripes today:
Darcy Blake tries hard but seems to find it impossible to pass to someone on his own side. His distribution got even worse when moved to full back;
Jay - this going down on his arse at every opportunity business is well beyond a joke;
free kicks - what's happened? we used to have great options with Chops, Ross and Whitts - but when was the last time a decent one was taken? :(

Still - at least some signs of fight after the shambles that was Ipswich...

Jay frustrates me with the permance he gave today he does everything right then at the last minute he either holds onto the ball too long and looses it or just goes down like hes been shot.His hold up play and the skill on the ball is fantastic but the part to his game where he just goes dwn at every opurtunity is his own worst enemy.We all kno what he can do and we are a much worse team without him but if he cut it out of his game he could be so much more!.I still feel positive (suprisingly) after the past week or so and i still stand by my prediction that we will do just enough to get into the playoffs but by god don't we miss ledley and hudson!

sorry cant see many positives, just got back and to me it seemed i was watching a team WHO DIDNT CARE A TOSS. ross and jay argued all 2nd half, they were both a waste of time, ross looks slow unfit and overweigh. kennedy arguing with everyone, whits looked unitrested, didnt look good from where i was. i may be being harsh, but i dont think so.

WE ALL DREAM OF A TEAM OF SUPER KEVS !

with mcphail and whittingham we looked almost like a top 6 side again

on the basis of today id say our playoff campaign should get back on track this month anyway
