CHEAP SHOT BY TLG

Can't believe TLG has taken such a cheap shot as this, really suprised, he even wrote chapters in some of these "HOOLIGAN BOOKS" what a load of bollox, to say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.

With reference to the joint statement by the Supporters' Club and the Supporters' Trust, on Saturday morning (at 1:13am) you wrote:

Firstly, it would have been impossible for the Supporters' Club and the Trust to issue a joint statement concerning the outcome of the court case a week or two ago as the hearing only took place last Wednesday.

The Trust's board was asked by several members to make a statement in relation to the court case on Thursday, and we were in the process of doing so when fresh information from a reliable source was received regarding the club's current position. Therefore, after a consultation with our friends at the Supporters' Club, it was decided to issue a joint statement on behalf of the two organisations, the contents and tone of which was materially different to the original statement which we had been working on.

If you have a look at today's News of the World report, and then re-read the statement, you will hopefully see some correlation between the two, and you might also understand the timing of the statement a little better.

Further on in the original statement thread, you asked why I believed a demonstration was a problem but releasing a press statement wasn't. You also asked what has changed.

Frankly, I'm amazed that you cannot distinguish between last weekend's march and this week's CCSC and CCST joint statement. Or maybe you can and this is just some sort of point-scoring exercise on your behalf. Either way, I shall entertain it.

Last week's demonstration, the organiser of which was a writer and publisher of books about football hooliganism, involved hundreds of fans walking to the stadium alongside a police escort whilst chanting various slogans directed against the current board, a couple of which were apparently unsavoury. It also involved supporters carrying a coffin and unfurling banners bearing legends such as 'TRANSPARENCY MY ARSE' and 'HATE THE RIDDLER'.A coherent joint statement from the club's two biggest supporters' organisations imploring the board and the shareholders to set aside their personal interests and safeguard the club's future is clearly a very different proposition altogether. I'm astonished that you apparently cannot see that.

As for what has changed, it seems the answer is plenty if the News of the World report is anywhere near accurate.

Further on in that thread TLG goes onto suggest that there is a possibility that TG was swayed by a letter he and the rest of the Trust Board sent him.

what can one say, i have been sitting on the fence on this one watching it for a while. i have only just read a chapter written by the same man who had written in these books, i quite honestly find it astonishing that a staement could contain what it said

He was a hooligan? Well, he's hardly been a clever boy in his comments then.

Easy for him to blast the march - no paper would touch a "hooligan in power at CCFC Trust" story because, well, do any of them know about the Trust?

This guy has done so much damage to the Trust's reputation and future existence it's unbelievable. I've met many Trust members who are all good, well meaning people with many valuable skills, but TLG just damages all of their good work. He may well be a hard working guy who gives up lots of his spare time voluntary, but a leader he is certainly not. A leader always puts his organisation first before his own personal interests, a leader avoids petty argumental issues, and leader certainly should not openly critise other groups trying to achieve exactly the same objectives, he should find a way of working constructively together. I joined the Trust to help make a difference but with such a poor attitude at the top of the organisation I'm afraid it's doomed. (It's a real shame)
