What a quality fella. I envy his positivity
The guys led them to 2 promotions and had to play 3 champions league teams in the first 4 games and aside from last weeks thrashing at Arsenal gave both United and City a proper game yet sections of the media were linking every man and his dog with his job.
Shame on them. Hes smashed Villa today and the fans chanted his name in support even at 1-0 down. Quality support.
As for Ricky Lambert. 4 goals already knocking the doubters. I like Merse but hes made a right tw*t of himself saying Lambert wint get 5 goals. No wonder he lost £7 mil he dont know shit.
I wish them well. Proper football club.

To think Adkins managed the first team to play a league game against us at CCS. He left them to join Southampton in a lower league. Now a premiership manager. Were are we going wrong.

Good manager
He learnt his trade at Bangor City
Sat Sep 22, 2012 11:00 pm
He takes Southampton from League 1 to the Premiership in successive seasons and some people still aren't satisfied. If it wasn't for Adkins they would probably still be in League 1 now. Who the hell do some people think they are calling for his head? Southampton should realise how lucky they are to have a manager of Adkins' ability. Great to hear the fans chanting his name today.

Nevermind physio this guy should be a physcologist.
So positive its untrue. His PR skills are brilliant fair play.

I don't particularly like the guy, for some reason.
He's done a wonderful job, though, and fair play to him.

They haven't been calling for his head. They've lost 1 in 7. Drew away with Chelsea Wednesday.
He's gained then back to back promotions. Madness!!

disgusting how he has been sacked!!! that's what pisses me off about football in the modern game
Fri Jan 18, 2013 12:06 pm
I'm not a huge fan of Adkins, but even I can see just how mind-numbing that decision is.

They werent even calling for his head when they were getting thumped begining of the season, hence the reason for this thread.
To sack him and replace him with some nobody who just got sacked from Espanyol cos they were doing shite is beggars belief really.
I can see them going down cos of this. They obviously had fantastic team spirit under Adkins, to get the resultthey did Wednesday proves that.
Now they got some guy with no PL experience, bring a few of his own players in, I think it will upset the apple cart.

Nigel Adkins has been dismissed as manager of Southampton and has been replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.
Adkins joined Southampton in September 2010 on a three-year contract when they were third from bottom in League One.
He guided them to back-to-back promotions, first to the Championship and then to the Premier League where they began the campaign with a 3-2 defeat at Manchester City.
However, they won plaudits for their enterprising approach, most recently in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea on Wednesday evening which saw them move three points clear of the relegation zone.
Southampton executive chairman Nicola Cortese said: "This decision has been made with the long-term ambitions of Southampton Football Club in mind.
"Whilst we acknowledge the contribution Nigel has made during the past two years, for the Club to progress and achieve our long-term targets a change was needed.
"Mauricio is a well-respected coach of substantial quality who has gained a reputation as an astute tactician and excellent man manager. I have every confidence that he will inspire our talented squad of players to perform at the highest possible level."

Nail on head regarding team spirit. What they lacked in quality they made up for in team spirit. Can't see them staying up now!!
