I've always wanted to work with cars so it was sort of the only route i could go down. But a lot of my mates done the same and we all agree it was the best thing to do, money in your pocket even tho the pay for apprentices is shit and you have always got something to fall back on. The only down side is when all your mates are out on a summers day and your stuck in work it's shit.

If you do go for the Army option Thomas, don't be pushed into the infantry. Try and get into the REME (If they are still called that  ) and get a good trade like electrician or motor mechanic.

Thomas as another poster mentioned dont go for infantry if you do opt for the military, and buggar all wrong with the military, if you can handle it, personally i cant take orders so it's not for me, but my mates 13 years in now, had college course after colllege course paid for by the military so hes covered when he does quit the forces and also now own's 5 houses which he rents out which will be a nice little pension fund for him.

If You've got qualifications mate, try the Navy? Join the Army and you WILL end up with some
bastards trying to blow your legs off. God bless all the lads who fight over there, my son is
one of them in the Royal Marines, but be aware of the facts. The Royal Navy has some excellent
trades and is fairly safe. Not being patronising mate, but the thought of lads signing up just cos
there's no other jobs pisses me off. Makes me wanna kick Gordon Brown in his teeth

Good luck :ayatollah:

Yes, Navy is probably the best to go for AT THE MOMENT.
Seeing as they're still recruiting.

The RAF has been completely shut off in terms of recruitment.

You can still get good trades in the Army though, it's not all about frontline battle.

Well done on your son being a marine. Top lads and very physically fit.
