The fee is approx £10mill :bluebird:

We are delighted to confirm that Josh Murphy has signed for the Bluebirds, subject to international clearance.

The former-Norwich City man joins for an undisclosed fee and has signed a four-year contract at Cardiff City Stadium that will run until the summer of 2022.

The 23-year-old winger came through the Canaries’ Academy system alongside twin brother Jacob, signing professional terms in 2013. Josh made his debut for the Norfolk side during the 2013/14 season before going on to make 108 appearances and scoring 20 goals. He registered 11 times over the course of the 2017/18 campaign.

Speaking exclusively to cardiffcityfc.co.uk, Neil Warnock said: “Josh is a player I’ve watched for a number of years now and he’s always excited me when he runs with the ball.

“I think he’s at the right age now with his best still to come. He can play an instrumental part in helping us to stay in the Premier League and I know he’s looking forward to the challenge.

"He’s been my number one target since the end of last season.”

Im so pleased we have spent money young with pace, its going to be so important next season for us. Warnock generally gets the best out of the wide players with pace, seems a good start.

Great signing IMHO :thumbright:

Clearly, Neil Warnock isn't sitting on a beach somewhere doing nothing, as some suggested! ;) :laughing6:

Cardiff City sign winger Josh Murphy from Norwich City

12/06/18

Cardiff City have confirmed the signing of winger Josh Murphy from Norwich City.

The winger becomes the Bluebirds' first signing for the summer, signing a four-year deal with Neil Warnock's men for an undisclosed fee.

It has been reported that Cardiff would have to pay a fee of £11m to secure the services of Murphy, and it is understood that the eight-figure sum previously reported is accurate.

Murphy joined Norwich's academy as a schoolboy and made his first team debut for the Canaries in 2013.

The 23-year-old had loan spells with Wigan Athletic and MK Dons and made 47 appearances in all competitions for the Carrow Road outfit last term, scoring 11 goals.

He made nine Premier League appearances for the Canaries during the 2013-14 campaign, the same season in which the Bluebirds made their debut in the division.

Murphy traditionally operates on the left wing, although he can also play on the right flank or as a secondary striker.

Speaking to iFollow Cardiff City, Warnock said: “Josh is a player I’ve watched for a number of years now and he’s always excited me when he runs with the ball.

“I think he’s at the right age now with his best still to come. He can play an instrumental part in helping us to stay in the Premier League and I know he’s looking forward to the challenge.

"He’s been my number one target since the end of last season.”

Welcome Josh!

Let's hope he's a bit more successful than NW's last two "number one targets" - Messrs Madine and Tomlin!

Young, quick and hopefully hungry to prove himself in the Premier League.

Looking forward to seeing him in action.

Happy with this signing. Good promising player. Plenty of pace and skill.

If Warnock pulls another 5 like this out the bag be well happy!

Very harsh comments. We don't play to either of their strengths

Why bother spending money on them (and a lot of money for Madine) if you don't then play to their strengths?

Surely it would be better to spend the money on players whose strengths you will play to?

Anyway, as WelshPatriot thinks I was adding negativity to the thread (I wasn't - I was just pointing out that NW had said exactly the same when signing Tomlin and Madine) let's move on and wish Josh every success in a City shirt.

We didn't play to their strengths as our system was very successful.

Had it not been so successful we would have changed it and THEN played to THEIR strengths.

That is why they were possibly bought........ for Plan B. However Plan A was good enough.
